Let the controversy begin... Before we get into any specifics about this topic, let's begin by understanding that God is the one that invented sex to begin with. God dreamed up the idea and was well pleased with His handiwork. God crafted all of the feel good nerve endings and even came up with the idea of an orgasm. I know that might make us blush, but fundamentally we need to understand that sex in itself is not dirty or shameful. God made it feel good so that we would be encouraged to do it. To say that sex only has a purpose for procreation is silly. By senses logic alone we can see that is not true. For example, why would there be any need for a woman to have an orgasm? - keeping with that logic. The truth is that our heavenly Father invented the concept and fully intended for us to enjoy it to the maximum. He sets no limits on its enjoyment other than brief periods of time then encourages us to get back to doing it. For example:
The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud (deprive) ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency (not being faithful to do it leading to other temptations). 1 Corinthians 7:4-5
Pretty clear wouldn't you say? The married couple are instructed that they are to give themselves over to each other regardless of whether one or the other feels like it or not. That is what God means by "hath not power." God knows our need for sex and lovingly makes provision for the need to be met.
However, this verse also gives us a clue regarding the proper context for sex. God planned for sex to occur between a married couple. I know, I know - in our day and time this is considered foolish. But think of how many problems are eliminated by this simple rule. There would be no more "baby momma drama." You wouldn't have to explain how this girl you didn't like or hardly knew now has your child. This doesn't even consider how many sexually transmitted maladies we can avoid. Thus God's best solution for people is to get married. When your wife is expecting, it is generally "good" news, not a source of dread and anguish. The bible also says the marriage bed is undefiled. That means as long as the two of you agree - anything goes. LOL The only consideration is mutual agreement and love.
Once a person reaches adulthood it may be hard to advise them not to have sex. However, marriage always represents God's best solution.
Sex is not shameful or dirty. There are boundaries regarding its use, but sex itself is not a bad thing. I often marvel how people like to attribute the good, fun things to the devil while reserving the drab and mundane for God. I would submit things are just the opposite from how they are reported. God is a God of variety and spice of life. The devil with his excesses, lusts and perversions leads people only to bondage. Let's talk about sex, baby!

It makes no sense, to myself, to believe that love is only reserved for ONE person in life when there are so many people who could use it.
Know what I mean?
That's why it is so important for people to be educated about the Bible. Then, some hack somewhere cannot use it as a club to abuse another person. Right information is power... Also, I think we should clarify that the Bible provides frameworks for Christian people functioning in a Christian environment. My marriage is based on the Bible and as such my wife and I hold ourselves to a higher standard than simply how one or the other feels at the time. The ultimate argument ender in my family is, "What does the word say?" Sometimes I am wrong, sometimes she is wrong, but the word is our standard. God's institution of marriage was intended for His people, as they would be the ones with a heart to handle it how He said to handle it.
This is the fault I was pointing out: that God evidently puts restrictions on the amount of devotion you can place on someone you love. Government puts the same restrictions on people, but Government thinks they are God anyway.
Thats was my point.
