Goddess Blessings dear women friends. I started this group out with a couple of whoppers that I know have you taken back a few steps and perhaps have left you a bit overwhelmed. Please understand that I am almost 59, which is almost 60; therefore I have lived a lot of life and have naturally by course of nature gone through a lot of "stuff".
The things that I post are not meant to garner sympathy; but to let you know that there is always someone who has shared an experience not the same as yours, but similar; and hopefully that someone will be willing to share and assist you in your growth.
This evening before I go to bed I will tell a happy story. A story of a young girl grown to womanhood right before my eyes. My 16 year old granddaughter is a brunette and a cheerleader (shudder). She has cheered for the past 6 years and for the past 4 years her hair has gotten progressively lighter and lighter until the blonde finally caught up with who she really is!
Now, don't get me completely wrong...she is a total ditz, but she has a heart of gold and has volunteered in nursing homes for the past 2 years and loves it.
This year she entered her Junior year in High School. When I asked her if she was going to cheer she said that she had thought about it and realized that since her mom is a single mom that she knows that she can't afford to send her to college and she will need to get some sort of scholarship. She also is aware that means getting her grades up and she has vowed to do just that. She doesn't live close enough to me for me to see very often, but we talk regularly on the phone. My blondie has now turned in the cheers for some of the responsibility she is going to have to face as a woman.
As a grandmother this is a bittersweet thing to see.
