Babysitter Arrested

incidents like this make me ill.

It's been on the news for the last few hours. I won't say what I think should happen to her, but I can guarantee it wouldn't be pleasant.

This is absolutely horrible! My son and his wife are very careful who watches their 2 year old twins. If family can't watch them, they pick a sitter from their church or someone they know from work. Then they have the sitter come and spend a few hours taking care of the kids while they are at home so they can observe how she interacts with the kids. Then when they leave the sitter alone with the kids, they leave their cell phone numbers and tell her to call for any reason no matter how small. The first time she stays alone with the kids, they are only gone for a couple of hours. Only when the sitter proves herself to be both competent and good with kids and loving to them, do they leave her longer with the kids. They write out a schedule for her to follow before they leave and go over what discipline they use (only time outs). They don't hire sitters who say any bad words including words like "stupid' or "bad." They are very vigilent in protecting their kids. I feel so sad for the child that was killed by the sitter. I hope that sitter gets the death penalty.

I feel for the family of the dead child. How they must be hurting so. I have no kind words to say about the one accused of hurting this child.

I thoroughly understand how you feel, Dangers Untold. She definitely needs more than a slap on the wrist. This makes me so furous I can think of lots of punishments that aren't civilized.

Why do grown-ups beat up children? You pay a person to take care of your child and they beat your baby to death. This is evil.

How awful, evil, sick, and more... our "baby" is a grown up now, but he's still ours, and if anyone had ever harmed him, then or now, I don't know what I'd do, but it wouldn't be pretty. One thing I don't think you "ever" get over is the loss of a child, and if it's a loss like this, it's so much worse. Thanks, Linda.

Do you know how angry she had to be to beat a baby to death, and with a fly swatter handle, unless the construction of them has changed, this had to be one viscious attack.

How terribly sad for the child and her family.

Can you believe, the babysditter didn't even call 911.

She said that she couldn't wake the baby up from her nap, that she couldn't reach the mother and that she called the father. The baby's father left work, went to the babysitter's house and called 911 when he found that his daughter wasn't breathing.

I agree with Candy, can you believe it was with a flyswatter handle how very sad.

How very tragic and sad. It is beyond comprehension.

OMG, that really makes me want to hurt this 'babysitter'! I can think of many torture things that would never even be punishments enough. I just hope guilt hits her and that she has to live with that the rest of her life, when her time comes I hope she dies the most painful death and I hope while she is in prison she gets beaten every day!
