Since I was concerned about the lure of the sale and the possibility of over spending, I left home with $35 in cash because that was all that I was willing to spend. Obviously I had a checkbook for "just in case" but I had already decided that exceeding my budget was not an option. I also had an additional expense to consider, in that my sweetie had made a special request for ice cream. Fortunately his favorite Breyers was Buy One/Get One Free. Although chicken was offered for a sale price I made a quick decision to substitute Buy One/Get One Free pot roast but requested that one of the roasts to be ground into fairly lean ground beef.
I checked out with a cartload of groceries including a bag of kitten chow (I had a $1.50 coupon) 4 packages of Hormel Sausage, 5 pounds of bacon, 3 dozen eggs 2 heads of lettuce, pot roast, ground beef and several freebees for a total of $34.94. According to Winn Dixie's inflated calculations I saved $29.24.

Breyers is my favorite ice cream too--I love their mint chip especially.
I hnope you get some good deals Stephanie. Don't forget to let us know how you did.
The trip actually worked out pretty well since I only spent $178 in September. (I budget $220 but try to stay around $200.)
I still have to learn to work under a tight budget like you do. I always set one but find I go over by $5 to $10 and that adds up so I shouldn't do it. Guess I need a little more discipline.
I stick to my budget, because I wouldn't be able to make all the ends meet if I didn't Marsha. I always have a bit of wiggle room for an extra or two if I'm careful (That's why I budget $220 but try to keep the total at about $200). I have a refrigerator freezer and a small deep freezer.
The only problem is their stock is never constant. One time when you go, they might have Emeril Spaghetti sauce and the next time they will have a different kind. (Usually two or three kinds.) They will always have some kind, just different kinds.
I have found a lot of really great products this way. Then I saw them in the grocery store for a lot more money. Sometimes I felt it was worth it. Other times I didn't. It's always an adventure. They also have toys, toiletries, cleaning products, and some household items. It's a great place.
It is a chain, but I don't know if it is only in the Northwest or other regions too. Look online and good luck! I think you would really like it.
Bargain shopping CAN be a challenge lol
