You did quite well! Its always fun to come right under the budget. Although my family would never be able to go through that much eggs, sausage and bacon.

Breyers is my favorite ice cream too--I love their mint chip especially.

thanks for sharing, I do plan on getting my butt into the truck and getting over to winn dixie this weekend to take advantage of these sales. Thanks for reminding me.

We won't eat all the bacon and sausage for quite a while Lisa. But I have lots of freezer space and I could pass up prices like $1.38 for bacon that's usually over $3.

I know about watching them at the register Mary. They frequently make mistakes, but never in my favor. I think it's a computer thing/some things don't scan at the sale prices.

The trip actually worked out pretty well since I only spent $178 in September. (I budget $220 but try to stay around $200.)

Good shopping. We stock up on sales too. My wife said the other day we have enough meat frozen to last thru the year.

Good for you! I try to stock up on sales as much as possible. Because it's just the two of us we don't have to have a lot to last us a month but I thank goodness I kept my deep freezer when we moved.

I still have to learn to work under a tight budget like you do. I always set one but find I go over by $5 to $10 and that adds up so I shouldn't do it. Guess I need a little more discipline.

Wish we had a Winn-Dixie. We do get some good sales, but I find I get the best buys at the Grocery Outlet, Dollar Store and a local produce stand. Now I just need to find a discount health food store where I can buy my gluten free bread and vitamins.

What is The Grocery Outlet, Sandra? Is it a chain or something local?

I stick to my budget, because I wouldn't be able to make all the ends meet if I didn't Marsha. I always have a bit of wiggle room for an extra or two if I'm careful (That's why I budget $220 but try to keep the total at about $200). I have a refrigerator freezer and a small deep freezer.

The Grocery Outlet sells things that might be new on the market, or the boxes have something wrong with the label or maybe there was an overtun. I am not sure what their criteria are, but it is a wonderful place where I find all kinds of bargains. I can get things there that are half the price of the grocery store or less.
The only problem is their stock is never constant. One time when you go, they might have Emeril Spaghetti sauce and the next time they will have a different kind. (Usually two or three kinds.) They will always have some kind, just different kinds.
I have found a lot of really great products this way. Then I saw them in the grocery store for a lot more money. Sometimes I felt it was worth it. Other times I didn't. It's always an adventure. They also have toys, toiletries, cleaning products, and some household items. It's a great place.
It is a chain, but I don't know if it is only in the Northwest or other regions too. Look online and good luck! I think you would really like it.

That sounds like a great store Sandra. Similar to Big Lots but maybe a little better.

I always keep my checkbook with me to because I always underestimate how much my groceries will be. There are no Winn-Dixies near me. I used to live near one and I loved shopping there. The store was the only one in town that had any kind of ethnic spices or exotic fruit.

BLAH!Linda, I no longer have any Winn-Dixies in my area. I loved shopping there and I also worked for them. I hated it when they closed the stores down here! Oh well, that's life. I'm glad you got such good bargains:)
