While I was watching the real estate channel this morning, I was reminded of an incident that occurred when my son was a little boy.
It was early afternoon and the family was out for a typical Sunday drive (inexpensive entertainment). While riding through a country area my husband commented about several parcels of land that were for sale. My 5 year old son kept looking at the signs with a quizzical expression on his face until he finally burst out "but land can't have a phone number!"

And we were almost hit by a large truck.
;)
Isn't so cute what children can come up with?
Yeah, I remember when I was 8 the teacher asked how many of us got out water from an Artisan Well, a certain number raised their hands, and then after a bit the teacher asked me, well where does your family get YOUR water from???
FROM THE FAUCET!
Hey I was sincere, she got really angry with me for being so clueless!
I remember teachers like that. They were always so sure that kids were trying to be smart alecs. To me their reactions say a lot more about the teachers than they do about the kids.
My son thought that a person could have a telephone number because the phone would ring at their house. But that land couldn't have a telephone number because there was no one living on the land to answer the phone.
Linda - Thanks for your patience. I get it.
So... what's the last line of the national anthem?
I looked up your article (http://www.gather.com/viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474976791966)
and noticed that you didn't publish it to any groups. Gather is so busy that a lot of good articles get missed that way. When you publish articles to specific groups they are more likely to be read by people who are interested in that subject.
