I took my car to this inspection station to get a State Emission Inspection Monday morning. In order to be the first in line, I got up super early and arrived right before they opened. After waiting for about 20 minutes, they told me the inspection machine was locked out and I needed to come back.
Today I decided to try it again. I got up super early again, drove there with my aunt (because I had to drop her off at the Metro station this morning also), and got there before they opened. I spoke to the technician and asked if the machine was working today. I said I was here on Monday and it was locked out. He told me it was up and running, and asked me to wait in the waiting room.
After waiting for about 20 minutes, he came to me and told me the machine was still not working. I was furious and confused. This was the second time I had to drag myself out of bed early in the morning to get in line, and he had just told me the machine was working! He said the guy from the State was supposed to be here this morning to fix it, but he wasn't here. Well, that was very different from what he had just told me 20 minutes ago, which was, "The machine is up and running."
He asked me to call back before I came back next time. I told him I would not be coming back. This is too much. I understand that the machine is out of their control, but he should at least check for the facts before he falsely told me the machine was working. I didn't have to wait any extra time in the waiting room if I knew the machine wasn't working.
Now I just have to find another inspection station, and make another trip. Why does a simple thing turn into such a hassle?

Perhaps the machine was working when you asked, and then stopped working. Or, maybe they thought they had fixed it and were mistaken. There are a million possibilities, and some of them are actually reasonable.
So, the question is - when you can find no logical reason for what happened and are extremely frustrated and angry, why not conclude that there is a reasonable explanation? It is more likely (and more easy to swallow) that there is something going on that you aren't aware of.
I'm not suggesting you should go back there. If you're like me, though, you're stuck in the anger and frustration of it all, while those people haven't a clue. So, it might make it easier for you if you just laugh it off as ridiculous, or something, and be glad you didn't give them your money.
