Yes you heard me corrrectly. No I am still not happy about the points business but that isnt the only thing Gather is about. First and foremost it is here for us to post our crafts whether that be writing, pictures or video. For me my main writing comes from 80's related stuff. I joined Gather on September 8, 2008 and By September 10, my group Children of the 80s had been opened. The second post I made on Gather was about the 80's. The last post I made was about a band from the 80's Are you noticing a pattern here yet?
One of the first types of Posts I did was called Children of the 80s : One Hit Wonder of the Day. I have to admit i got burnt out on it. Everyday I was rushing around gathering information to make a deadline I wouold set for myself and before long I wasnt enjoying myself any more because my writing was forced. Just like when I was in high school and a teacher made us write, all I could produce was dull paragraphs that got me the grade but made people snore. Myself included. I wasnt writing for me and the enjoyment of it. So I quit doing them.
No longer burnt out on them, I am debating doing them again. I am more leaning toward doing them than not anyway. Im just not going to do them every day. Nor am I going to promise one a week. Some weeks I might do one or I might do 7 of them. Some weeks none at all.
I am going to try to do some new things and I will appreciate feedback as to whether they are something you find fun. Im not talking about One Sentence games. Hey if its your thing great. Its just not my nitch. But i want to do new things that either havent been done in a gather format or that are more or less rare. More or less I want to completely earn that nickname of "That 80's Dude" and when someone thinks of the 80s I want my readers to think Hey theres that 80s dude on gather so and so might like.
So Again i am happy on Gather because I am free writing and doing it on subjects I enjoy. I have no deadlines. I dont have to write in the first place. I can now return to doing it for my enjoyment first and hopefully because i am having fun you will enjoy reading my stuff as much as I am enjoying writing it. Isnt that what its all about?
im still ticked about the points though...lol
I'm Out!

There was nothing like growing up in the 80's. I loved everything about it! Glad you're feeling better about Gathering. I really enjoy all the memories you and your group provide! And yes, the points suck!
thanks leslie.I really appreaciate you kind words about the posts in Children of the 80s!!! You are so right about our decade. Kids today, will never know how cool it was growing up in that decade. Some might disagree but we all like what we like :)
I love my eighties... it was our time.. although I dont post much I do look at and appreciate any "80's posts", and bry, yours are the best.... you keep writing at your leisure and I will keep looking, and I always let you know I have been there!
I was a child of the 70's, or at least a teenager of the 70's :)
thats ok..We'll forgive your generation for bringing disco into the world...maybe..lol J.K. I was a child of the 70s and a teen of the 80s. so I had both worlds to raise me. :)
yeah me too, considering we were born 2 weeks apart... lol but I keep telling everyone, "not having a birthday this year", lol..
There truly is nothing like the music from the 80's... I was listening to a journey song the other day and my 5 year old perked up and asked, "who's that, mom"... he already has great taste in music!
You are raising that child right! :)
Both of mine like alot of 80s music to which their friends are unimpressed but we taught them not to follow the crowd (or so we hope..lol)
My son gets into a lot of the eighties metal and classic, like queen, bowie, the who, metallica, pink floyd (of course, he is my kid) and Guns N Roses.
Bry, you could post aboiut anything.. good or bad.. stilll viewing though
thanks Kimmie :) Big hugs!
Thanks Brian, I will be glad to read you. I am a child of the early 70s.
some members left here, I am on coast for now, focusing on other things, like things not on Gather
eww.... some one peed in the cherrios..
I'm not treating gather any differently than before. But I do notice MORE cut and paste, not less. One man had been putting in highly controversial topics just to garner points - and reference another website that pretends to be science and isn't - I deleted him from my friend list. I see, this morning, a woman who is posting information about different dog breeds - she's next to be deleted. If I wanted that info, I'd check the encyclopedia or google...
I want information about real people, their thoughts and their lives... Thanks for writing from your experiences and your heart.
i am so happy you are just happy doing your own thing here on gather that is what i enjoy about gather it is differant every day
I haven't been around much lately. What is the new points system? Is there a post I could read? Thanks.

Thank you!
I look forward to reading them Bryan! I try very hard to forget the 80's LMAO, it was a horrible time for me, so maybe you can help me look back fondly :-)
Your 80's posts are what captured my attention but your warm but honest personality captured my heart. Love reading anything you write...well not really the political stuff but I try to get through some of it.
Hey Bryan, when ever I see your smiling face I think..."80's dude".....eeeekkkk!, sorry the 80's just kinda humor me.....no offense, but I do love the stuff you write and I"m glad you are getting back to loveing the writing.....
Yep, your 80s group drew me in, and like Linda, your personality has kept me reading (even when it's about evil teeth that must be removed). LOL! I like seeing all of the activity in your 80s group lately. Fun stuff.
I'm glad that you're enjoying Gather again. I'm still bummed about the points too. ;-)
i left, you should too ! boycott boycott !
You actually have to leave and not post for it to be a boycot. Duh.
