The purpose of the jukebox is not to stick to one genre of music or to overplay one particular style. I want to throw a bit of everything into this bowl of soup ,so that while not everyone will love or even like every song on the jukebox, everyone will be represented at various times.
Please be sure to check out the video below!
That said today's song used to drive me nuts when I was working in radio. In 1989, Alternative was on the scene and when i worked at the station during the day, I had to play a large amount of what the station considered to be Alternative Rock. I was a metal head and like anything that was even considered remotely metal. When it came to alternative I was standoffish and did my best to avoid it. To me Alternative represented the death of the rock acts that I loved to jam to. Sadly I came to the realization that music is all about change and times were changing.
In 1988 a band called Jane's Addiction released its first studio album Nothings Shocking. On that album the song "Jane Says" appeared and in 1989, when I began learning the ropes of being a D.J., the song was still popular and highly requested. Initially, I hated the song with a passion, but over time the Steel Drums (played by Mike Shatz) would somewhat win me over and Jane Says grew on me.
Members of the band ( and guest musicians ) for the Album Nothings Shocking were :
Perry Farrell (vocals, piano)
Dave Navarro (electric & acoustic guitars)
Eric Avery (bass)
Stephen Perkins (drums, percussion)
Mike Shatz (Steel drum and congas on "Jane Says")
Angelo Moore (Saxophone)
Flea (Trumpet)
Christopher Dowd (Trombone)

I remember it well !!!
thanks Bryan... all these 80s tunes bring back memories whether I liked them then or not!
Oh yeah take me back to the 80 music!
I've not heard this one by JA, but then I wasn't ever a big fan. Dave Navarro gives me the creeps.
I don't think I ever heard this song but I do like the steel drums.
"Been caught Stealing" isn't too bad of a song. Funny video.
I remember this song and while I was into the Alternative scene, I wasn't a Jane's Addiction fan. I didn't hate them either, though.
I like your new jukebox idea/group. Thanks, Bryan.
cool video ... never got into this band much.

I didn't listen to much music in the 80's.....this one's pretty good!
Great video Bryan!
My kids like this one but it is not my favorite
I loved JA, and still do. I remember my old boyfriend playing Jane Says on his guitar and the whole group of us sitting around singing. Thanks for the memory 8)
