1987 was the year I turned 18. At the time i was a pretty bad drinker and as a result woke up that July morning with a hangover in someones yard in a lawn chair with a keg of beer parked between me and my best friend. That summer I lived at his house due to problems between me and my mother. His family became my family. 22 years later I am still best friends with Russ and his family are more my family than ever.

I love these trips down memory lane
Good memories. In 1987 I had an identity crisis, when Joshua Tree came out I was a total headbanger...but even in my youth I identified with I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. Then, the next year when REM's Green came out I didn't know what to do with myself. I've been a crazy eclectic fool ever since! Great article, Bryan.
1987 was the year my husband and I reconnected and began dating. We had met seven years prior and I had thought he was the biggest jerk I ever met. He had moved away and had just began living in the area again. I was going through a divorce and went out clubbing with friends. There he was at the next table. His friends had stood him up so we invited him over. The rest is history. By the way our 20th wedding anniversary is June 23rd.
so kewl
I don't remember anything notable happening to me in 1987. Well, one day I tried to sneak over to the school to go to kindergarten, while I was supposed to be napping. ;) We only lived a couple blocks away from the school, and could see it from our backyard.
My neighbor caught me since she was out watering her garden, though, and took me home. I was almost 5.
memories....la la la.....bryan I am happy to say I never woke up in a yard in a lawn chair with a kegger ... not saying it was a possibility just that it never happened...thank goodness....
The eighties were strange years for a lot of people.
I remember praying for Baby Jessica...I was like 7 or 8 then,,nice post!
I enjoyed the walk down memory lane as well. I'm not sure I remember the Kylie song, but I was never a fan so...
I was already married and had two kids by january of 1987. (and my father passed 8 hrs after my daughter was born in January)
