Back in the 80's a movie called The Return of the Living Dead came out and with it, an introduction to a new type of music that the people in my circle of friends didnt listen to. The Cramps recording of Surfin Dead would introduce me to that genre and I would listen off and on till now. While doing a search for them I came across notice of his death on Wikipedia and realized that yet another (at least to me) pioneer of music had left our world. His name was Erick Lee Purkhiser but he was better known as Lux Interior. his cause of death was Aortic Dissection which is a tear in the wall of the aorta that causes blood to flow between the layers of the wall of the aorta and force the layers apart. It can cause death fairly quickly. Doctors managed to keep him alive for 5 days but their efforts were in vain. He passed away February 4, 2009 at 4:40 AM.
Together with his wife Kristy Wallace also better known as Poison Ivy they formed The Cramps in 1976 and jammed at CBGB's along other greats like The Ramones. They had a total of 12 albums 4 of which were compilations of their work. In addition to alot of great tunes I believe one of his greatest accomplishments was being with his wife Poison Ivy for 37 years. Not alot of people in or out of the entertainment industry can say that.
Rest in Peace.
For those not into Zombies or horror, you may want to skip the video. You've been warned.

I hadn't heard about this either. I remember them, and my roommate from college (friends since we were 11) had a Cramps poster on our wall in college. Thanks.
