With hits like People are People and Personal Jesus, their music has been around since 1980. On Tuesday, David Gahan, Lead singer for the 80's band Depeche Mode, was taken to a hospital in Athens, Greece. No word other than that he felt ill has been given to allow it to be known exactly what is wrong with Gahan, there is word that the concert that was canceled on Tuesday may be held tomorrow so it doesnt appear to be serious.
In other news, it appears that Henry Lee Summers (I wish I had a Girl (who walked like that))was arrested on a methamphetamine possession charge along with a few others. Officers attempting to pull Summers over for failing to use a turn signal stated that he threw a quantity of the drug out of the window and had to be subdued with tear gas. He has since been released from jail and has a hearing today, May 12th.
After serving Four months of a Fifteen month sentence George O'Dawd (AKA Boy George) has been released from prison. He was convicted in 2007 of falsely imprisoning a man he said was taking pictures of him. It is reported that he will still be expected to wear and elctronic tag for the remainder of his 11 months.
Back in the recording studios, Suzzana Hoffs of The Bangles is working on a new Bangles Album, but dont jump for joy just yet. It looks as if this is a Bangles for 2009 and not the 80s Bangles we once knew. Hopefully they dont forget those 80s roots altogether as they are touring in the US this summer.
For those of you that are living in 2009 you may now return to that 80s state of mind as Children of the 80's. Party on Dudes and Dudettes.
