My Sewing Machine Debut

I was running a scan on my computer so I thought it was time to get the material cut for the 2 pillows and get out that new sewing machine.

It comes with a instruction book, but also an instructional DVD which I definitely need to watch.

I followed the instructions and got the bobbin filled and put in, then got it threaded.  Below is the photo of the 2 pillows.  Which also means after I finish Araya's Barbie dress I am done making for the holiday except the food treats.

Nice job Marsha. I wish I could sew, I don't know if I have the patience to learn, actually the sewing part would be fine, but loading the bobbin and everything used to frustrate me so much in sewing class, I have not sewn since Jr. High (except for buttons and tears), I was not very good at it back then.

I'll bet you've learned a great deal of patience since then!! Try it again, it is such a terrific creative outlet, and downright practical these days for mending kids clothes, letting down their hems an inch as they grow, and sewing a few simple things for the house. Curtains, pillows, even duvet covers, dog beds and such are really easy, and the dog won't complain if you learn and practice on his pillow!! Good Luck

Looks very nice, luv the pillows. I have been wanting a new sewing machine for years. All I have is my granmother's Singer push petal over 100 years old.. lol And my mom's which is around 40 years old. And has now stopped working. I would really like to have one to make some sundresses this summer. Walmart has the sundress material. Very simple, only needs a hem up the back. And it has straps you can then sew on. They had has some very pretty ones. Guess I could have hand sewn them.. ahahahaaa too funny~

The pillows look nice. I am not good at sewing, my daughter does a little occasionally but her machine is very simple

nothing wrong with a simple machine. I have done a great deal of sewing, including purses for sale, a suit for my husband, and millions of curtains on an old Nechi machine from Italy that goes forward, backward and zigzag. That's it!!! I now have a fancy Janome that embroiders, but I still use the old one for mending jeans as the new won't handle that heavy stuff!! Simple is good, it's basic and you are not afraid to hurt it!!

Pretty cool pillows. The only thing I have done with my new sewing machine are hems for Hubby's new uniform pants.
