So, I had this blank wall facing my patio area. It has been driving me crazy for two years, but I just wasn’t sure how to deal with it.
I thought about a mural. I have done them before and thought that it might work. ~ Wouldn’t really work, since it is the side of the next house and this is a rental after all.
I thought about buying a huge canvas, painting a nice scene and trying to weather proof it. ~ Big canvases are really expensive and a painting that large could take me a while.
I have this really cool indoor outdoor rug that looks like a sandy beach. ~ I held it up and because it is in the same color family as the wall, it just got lost on it.What was a frugal girl to do?
Then I had a brainstorm. I had seven pieces of unfinished hard wood flooring. They were all two feet long and I had picked them up for nothing from the lumber yard in their throw away bin.
I got out my stucco and my paints and went at it. After spending $2.99 at the hardware store to buy picture hangers, I had my wall art. No more boring wall!
So move over Martha Stewart, the Frugal Decorator, CyberGwen is here. What do you think? Simple and I used would that would have been otherwise have been going to landfill.

I was going to buy some pot holders and mount them on there, but I didn't want the water running down the wall. (that and I have a tendency to forget to water!)

I enjoy painting anything that doesn't move. Well, I did get some paint on the neighbor's cat yesterday, so I guess even if it does move, it isn't safe!
