Crafts 2006/ 2007

The hooded baby sweaters with the zipper up the back are my all time favorites. Next year I am making a fisherman knit sweater for each of my grandbabies.

Wow Sarina- that's ambitious. I don't even want to think about sweaters!

In 2006 I did some scrapbooking but not as much as in past years. In the fall I started making greeting cards which I hadn't done much of before. In December I worked again on a big rose rug project.

In 2007 I want to get at least 3/4 of the rug done and do more scrapbooking than I did last year. I also plan to work again on my heritage album. I'm also considering taking up jewelry making. I'd like to make gifts that my daughters and daughter-in-laws would truly enjoy which is why I'm considering jewelry making.

Thanks for asking this question, Kathy. I have a better idea now what I want to accomplish this coming year.

In 2006 I made two baby blankets for my son (born in April), a kimono-style sweater for him, a scarf for my nephew, winter hats for my two nieces, a bolero jacket for a friend's baby, a scarf for myself, and winter hats for my son, my husband, and myself.

I also got a little more than halfway through a papoose-style baby pouch for my son (never finished it because he decided to be born five weeks early), and I've got the body and one sleeve of a cable sweater for him finished - I was shooting to have the sweater finished by today, but I still have one sleeve to go. Oh well.

Great thread! I always tell people I knit a little here and there - but making this list, I realize that I actually knit a lot! hahaha

Kathy - buying yarn to stash away is a telltale sign that you've been bitten by the knitting bug!! I have two Rubbermaid containers full of yarn (plus a big bag in the closet that I'm hiding from my husband, haha).

In 2007 I want to make a few pairs of socks, and try my hand at making a shawl - I've never done lacework before. And perhaps a sweater for myself.

I would just like to get into my crafts again this year. I need to organize my craft room and put a comfy chair in there. The problem is this computer keeps calling my name.

I don't remember all the knitting projects I did in 2006! Let me see... a couple of dishcloths and 8 face cloths, a twin size blanket for my bed which I need to add width to, several pairs of socks, finished a vest left over from the year before... I know I did more than that, but I can't remember. In 2007, I plan to finish that afgan, make more socks and curtains for my office. I have a list of things I want to make and plenty of yarn to do it all. Time will tell whether I actually do them or not!

In 2006 I stamped a lot of crafts. Items like: coaster sets, notepads, cards, gift bags and wrapping paper.

In 2007 I'd like to:

*learn use my grandmother's sewing machine. I'm not sure what I'll make.
*use my stamps to do some scrapbooking
*make stepping stones for my flower beds

Hi! I'm new to Gather, and thanks for this post...what a great way to introduce oneself. I learned to crochet this September and was bitten HARD. I ended up making all my Christmas gifts--which included many hats/berets, slippers, fingerless gloves, baby hat/bootie sets, and shower scrub mitts. I too have bought plastic storage bins for yarn, so I guess I qualify as an addict!

In 2007, I'm looking forward to moving beyond accessories into actual clothing...sweaters and the like. Luckily, I have lots of friends with wee ones so that I can start small. :) I also have an amazing pattern for an afghan that I'd like to make as a summer coverlet for my queen-size bed. I hope we all check back every now and then to report on our progress!

Great topic. My biggest project was doing some quilting with the ladies from our church, starting some knitting, a little big of crocheting, needlework, and then the one thing I started getting things for and am now tackling is the scrapbooking.

Knitting is a great thing. I'm not too crafty. I hope to start scrapbooking in 2007.

I am a self taught crocheter and knitter, and just learned how do do socks this past year. You should never stop at just one sock..lolol I had to force myself to do another one to match. Once you get into them they are really fun. I am going to make everyone on my list an afghan for gifts next xmas so I need to get my fingers to working soon. Don't you feel so proud of yourself with all your accomplishments. It truly is a wonderful thing to be able to do. Congrats on all your progresses.

Kathleen- I plan on knitting my second sock next. I didn't stop with one sock- I just got too distracted with other projects!

Well, Kathy (and Buckethead, too!) did you finish your second sock? And as we near the end of 2007, what projects did you come up with to reflect upon during 2008?
