Daily Whine & Shine - Wednesday, October 28, 2009
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Whether you agree with the concept or not, everyone needs to be able to vent from time to time. That's especially true if you're one of the many who suffer from an invisible illness. We have whines and rants about pains, medical professionals and prescriptions, just to name a few. Perhaps our families listen; perhaps they don't. Even if they do, they get tired of our complaining, even if they claim to understand our struggles. Or if they don't get tired of our "negative energy" we think they do or will.
Do you need to rant about something? Tell us about it.
Do you have some celebration or victory you need to share? This is the place.
What's happening in your world today? Are you grumpy about something? Or so angry you could spit? Tell it here. Here at the Daily Whine & Shine, it's acceptable to rant, vent, complain, stomp your feet, throw a tantrum, and shout, "Oh shuckie darn!"
Wait! Don't go away! Do you have some good news to share? Great. This is the place for that as well. If you're celebrating, dancing, and yelling, "Yippee Skippy!" please share. Sometimes knowing about someone else's happiness gives us a bit of hope for ourselves.
Whether you're shouting, "Oh shuckie darn!" or yelling, "Yippee skippy!" - this is the place to be. Pull up a rocking chair, and let's talk about it.
Now, let's celebrate!!!

Food for thought:
We hang petty theives and appoint the great ones to public office. ~ Aesop
Those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth. And let me remind you, they are the very ones who always create the most hellish tyrannies. Absolute power does corrupt, and those who seek it must be suspect and must be opposed. ~ Barry Goldwater
If we get a government that reflects more of what this country is really about, we can turn the century -- and the economy -- around. ~ Bella Abzug
The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over the government. ~ Franklin D. RooseveltDaily Whine & Shine

I fed Michaela twice since 11am and she threw up one of those feedings. I wonder if she is getting enough, but I don't want her to throw up any more. It is such a frustrating feeling to not know if your baby is getting enough food, but also worrying that she is getting too much, which is what the pediatrician thinks is happening since she jumped so fast in her weight gain and because she just can't keep the milk down.
She also slept much of the day, so I think she will be up most of the night. With my migraine, this won't be good at all :(
I was finally able to talk to my husband a bit the other day - a lot of crying on my part, but I admitted to him that I was feeling really depressed again and that my OB and the insurance company all would like to see me go back on my medications. I am scared to because I want to continue to breastfeed, and I don't want anything to affect Michaela, but I also have to be happier for my kids. He said he was a bit surprised, but he also felt that something wasn't right. He was really hoping that I wouldn't get depressed again (I had some really bad years not too long ago). He is concerned about me and about the baby, but I don't think he is very excited about the potential of me going back on medications either.
My migraine has finally left, but I am exhausted. I am usually really worn out after a migraine - they just suck the life right out.
I have been trying to soothe Michaela and while dealing with her I started thinking about our finances. I get so wraped up with the day to day that I forget the bigger picture (so to speak) and then I started panicking. We have until November 19th before my husband goes back to work, our money is dwindling and we have some large bills all coming up soon. I am scared that we are going to run out before his paychecks start up again. I talked to the WIC office about signing up for food stamps and I was told that the food stamps office is running 5 weeks behind - foolish me! I should have signed up for food stamps on October 1st or 2nd and then I would be close to actually having the appointment when it was needed. Now I have to try to get my application in and hopefully get an appointment before hubby goes back to work. Grrr. My other problem is that I am just not doing the stuff that needs to be done - I should have printed off the application weeks ago, but I keep forgettig and then when I do think of it I am either away from the house, or the time just isn't right.
I do know that it will all work out somehow in the end. When Robbie was born, George had no job. At least this time he has a job, even if he is on medical leave.
