I am new here and signed up because it seemed to be a place where I could write out my confusion and pain -- and get support. If I'm wrong let me know. I can also give support. I just can't get out of my own quandry lately.
I am the strong one emotionally - in my family, in my marriage, in my life experiences. But since the past summer I have been fighting depression. I know that's what it is. I haven't been to a shrink for a diagnosis. But I am intelligent, empathic, intuitive - I just can't figure out how to heal this pain. I don't see time as helping in this case.
It's such a long story and I don't have time to tell it right this minute. But I need to find a place to tell it, because it is driving me crazy to not have someplace to share it. The "funny" thing is that I take an anti-depressant for my fibromyalgia pain (works rather well; have had fibro over 40 yrs, this isn't from that) and I think it's that anti-depressant that's one of the things helping/preventing me from tipping into full-fledged depression. Instead I am on a roller coaster of emotional states, the roller coaster from hell.
So if this is a place I can share, please let me know. If not, I'll keep searching. Thanks.

I also had depression many decades ago and suddenly was cured.
So depression is not forever and there are many magical and wonderful drugs today.
This is produced by chemical unbalance in the organism.
You should go walking with or without dog, visit old friends, get new friends.
Being in the Internet and Forums is a good idea ... But be careful with people that like Fights and Ugly Discussions.
I love Gather.com and select my friends to avoid the Ugly discussions with Hate, name calling, etc .....
Gather.com is ideal to learn from others and share out thoughts.
What I share is this : "Depression is not eternal and can be cured" ....
There are Great Psychiatrists that became Doctors in order to fight their own Depression ... I have seen them on TV but forgot the names...
Cheer up .... There are many beautiful things to live for ....
We can always help others .....

Sergei Rachmaninoff wrote his most famous concert ( Number 2 ) when getting out of a depression. This is one of the Top Composers of the Twentieth Century.
It seems that people that experiment the "roller coaster" can also see beautiful aspects of life and reality. They can be great painters, musicians, etc ...
I hope you feel better now. -- Take Care !!
