Weekend Chew & Stew - April 26 & 27, 2008

Well, what are you waiting for?  Are you chewing on something?  Or stewing about something?  Share it here, please.

The Weekend Chew & Stew replaces the Daily Whine & Shine, mostly so that I can post one article for the whole weekend. 

You can still rant, vent, stomp your feet, throw a tantrum or yell, "Oh shuckie darn!"

Praise reports are welcome as well.  If you're ready to dance and shout, "Yippee skippy!"  do let us know.  Maybe we can dance and shout with you.  :-)

I am coming out of a week long festival of viewing cartoons, reading Dr. Suese, jumping in pools and general grandchildren havoc. For a week chaos reigned.

This weekend is the 2d Annual Steve McCauley Memorial Gold Tournament to raise money for scholarships for kids in need. Steve, my son, was killed in a car wreck coming home from his daughter's soccer game two years ago. He was active in kids activities, he has three daughters, and charity affairs here in middle TN. We miss him and are proud that the Tournament honors him in so many ways.

No stewing or chewing this weekend, just remembering.

Hi Fern. Sorry your allergies are bothering you. I think that's what's bothering my eyes right now. The pollen is thick on my car outside. With all the yellow on my blue car, I keep expecting it to turn green. :-)

Bonnie, are you expecting storms? We discovered recently that one of our dogs - the one that hates storms - can detect them hours in advance sometimes.

The only stew I like has beef in it and I'm chewing gum like there's no tomorrow. Gum chewing keeps my mouth busy. lol I can't complain - life could always be worse. Whenever I start to think of my silly problems I immediately remember there are other people a lot worse off than I. I'm alive and breathing and healthy. My kids are healthy and have never been hospitalized. I can still make my kids laugh. I can still climb trees and dance and sing silly songs and laugh and be a goofball without worrying about what anyone thinks of me. Life is good. God is great. :)

Marilyn, I love your posts and your style. You seem like the kind of friend that everyone needs and wants, but few ever find. :)

I am remembering my amazement at the people who made a run on rice at our local grocery store. It was sold out. News of a rice shortage hits the papers and people go crazy. I don't know if the shortage is serious or not, trying to read everything i can about that.

Jo, I'm glad you found us again.

Hope you'll post something if you find out more about the rice. I noticed so many things out of stock in the grocery store today - rice included. And the prices? Bread that was 10 for $10 last week was $2.39 a loaf today. Yikes! (I think the normal price used to be either $1.29 or $1.39?)

No storms expected, Marilyn.....we had them last night. I think his foot hurts. He has a nail that has gotten too long and he won't let me cut them. I see a trip to the vet in Monday's future.....ah, me....more $$$$$

Yesterday at the rubble site it was so cold and windy I stayed in my little shed all day. But time went fast as I have little projects I do and NPR. I have an appointment to see my psychiatrist Monday. It is a 200 mile trip one way. High gas. Plus I have to miss a day of work and drive home. Not motivated to go since my meds are doing okay. Don't know if I will cancel. Today will be nice but I will not work on the front of my house putting up decorative brick because I do believe in the sabbath and not doing work on Sunday.
