Daily Whine & Shine - April 23, 2008
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Whether you agree with the concept or not, everyone needs to be able to vent from time to time. That's especially true if you're one of the many who suffer from an invisible illness. We have whines and rants about pains, medical professionals and prescriptions, just to name a few. Perhaps our families listen; perhaps they don't. Even if they do, they get tired of our complaining, even if they claim to understand our constant struggles. Or if they don't get tired of our "negative energy" we think they do or will.
You have arrived! Where? Well, at the Daily Whine & Shine, of course. Silly goose.
What is that? Well, it's a place where you can pull up a chair and sit a spell, while you tell all about what's making you grumpy today. If you're wanting to vent or rant or stomp your feet, this is the place. Want to throw a tantrum? Or shout, "Oh shuckie darn!" This is the place. Let 'er rip. Just be nice about it. The strongest language has to be the equivalent of "oh shuckie darn!".
Do try to remember that even in the worst times, in the biggest trials, there is still some (perhaps tiny) something going on that is good. We want to hear about the good times too. If you're dancing, singing, and shouting, "Yippee skippy!" do share that with us.
Remember, the fourth week of April is:
National Television-Free Week
Teacher Appreciation Week
National Administrative Professionals Week (used to be National Secretaries Week)
National Sky Awareness Week
National Scoop the Poop Week
National Volunteer Week
April 23
National Picnic Day
Blue Day
National Administrative Professionals Day (former National Secretaries Day)
International Sing Out Day
Take a Chance Day
April 24
National Puppetry Day
Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
Pigs-in-a-Blanket Day
April 25
Arbor Day
Red Hat Society Day (Note: The official day. Some groups observe their own Red Hat Day.)
National Zucchini Bread Day
April 26
Read Me Day
National Pretzel Day
Hug a Friend Day
April 27
Tell a Story Day
National D.J. Day
Food for thought:
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." ~ Leo Buscaqlia

I'll be moving my computer to Tiff's room for a few weeks, so that I can answer calls with the door shut so that 4 pets cannot intrude on my temporary job (taking orders for mother's day flower orders). She's only here two weekends a month, so it won't intrude on her time/space much. And I am paying her to let me rent a corner of her room - $25. She's thrilled. Says that her mom would have just takren over her room without asking (I did ask).
Tomorrow they'll be testing my computer to make sure it's all ready for me to take orders. Then next week (M-F 9-1) I'll be in training. If all of that works out, then I'll be working 8 hour shifts every day for 2 weeks. If that works out, I could be asked to do this right before Christmas and Valentine's Day too. But, one step at a time.
Y'all keep me in your thoughts and prayers, okay? Even though this is an at home opportunity, I'm a bit concerned. If I'm having a bad pain day or an IBS day...
This stress is getting to me. I started with migraines first this time. that was 5 days ago. My shoulders are tight, and now i cannot even sleep on my left side. It used to be my right.
MY doctor is testing for all immuno-suppressive ailments, since I have the DES exposure in utero and just don't feel right. My mom has Rheumatoid arthritis as well. So the doc is being careful.
Found out my youngest daughter has some reproductive abnormalities, probably from the DES.
My grandson has a lump on the back of his head, and we are tying not to worry but we cannot help it. the doctor mentioned melanoma and that was that. He gets an ultrasound the 28th.
All in all, today has been a good day. I was able to get through a bunch of papers that now just have to be shredded. Got a bunch more filed or to be put into the family safe.
I babysat for the neighbor today and the children were actually good. I am amazed.
My son is working on spelling sentences and asking for very little help with them.
Thank you for this chance to bring out some stuff.
Mine are only 4 and 2. I would get absolutely nothing done!
But, seriously, Presidential Candidates on WWE? They're trying WAAAAY too hard AND ... any chance Hilary got knocked out by a large, sweaty, muscular man? Probably been a long time since something like that has happened for her! HA HA HA.
