Today, I am happy for all of the good times I have shared with my uncle. We were notified this morning that he passed away. He was a good man, and he loved his family deeply. He will be missed.
He and his family moved South for his job when I was a child. I missed seeing them terribly. He and my aunt raised two boys who are also great men, with families of their own now. My aunt passed away two years ago. My uncle kept his emotions close to his chest, but I think he missed my aunt every day they were apart. In so many ways, I am moved to tears to know my aunt, my father's sister, a woman with whom I share genetics, was loved so much by my uncle.
We hope that our family is loved as much as they should be - cherished, cared for, allowed to flourish. It is such a blessing to see the fruits of that labor and to know such happinesses are out in the world.
Rest in Peace, Uncle. I love you!
