In the spirit of personal acceptance, I offer you this poem as my Happy Thought today. We are never as alone as we feel. I was reminded by someone today that we can choose to be victims or survivors when the unthinkable happens. In the end, I chose survivor.
"Inside of Me"
Do you see who I am?
Do you know where I've been?
On my knees, on the ground
My soul no where to be found...
The twisting of my dreams.
Can you know how I feel?
All the shame and sorrow!
The sad look in my eyes,
tired, swollen, and red from crying...
And then I stand, gaining my strength
from all the girls also in my place!
Hand in hand, amidst the sand -
screaming at the ocean!
And it rains, and it rains,
and the rain it cascades down my face.
All my shame, all my shame
all my shame is washed away.
In the air I can breathe!
Finally, comes the dawning
Inside of me.
