Shadows

Someone sent me this right after my son died, and I would like to share:

A person was admiring a painting in a museum when another walked up behind
him. "It's so real..so vivid as if it were a photograph", remarked the first.

The second person said "it's the way the painter used shadows. Shadows,
although gray and unappealing accent the colors and make the character more
vivid".

It's that way with life. The shadows make us appreciate life all the
more. Shadows are not pleasant, but the pleasant is contrasted all the more
by the shadows in our life.

A shadow does not exist unless something or someone is standing in the sun.

We can be sad about the shadows or grateful for the sun that warms us, even though it causes shadows. Losing a child is a terrible grief. I'm glad you've found comfort.
