when it is more then being sad…

 



sad is like a rainy day when I rather have sun

sad is like having to walk when I'd like to run

sad is doing work when I'd rather have fun

sad is how I feel when your gone

 



but

 



when it is more then sad, no sun shines at all

when it is more then sad, I don't like anything at all

when it is more then sad, there is no fun at all

you were more then sad, that why you died to end it all

Steven was a friend of mine that killed himself on the day of his 40th birthday... depression is not sadness, sadness can ruin allot of things, but not usually a life...
Depression can ruin and end lives... Medical care and medication are healing balms for the depressed, with them, I would not be here...

I am grateful to my Heavenly Father for faith, and for inspiration, including the inspiration given to dr's and pharmaceutical companies that allows them to save lives... Not everyone needs medical care or medicine, but when you truly need them, they can do miracles...

I really appreciated your poem, I am so sorry you lost your friend . I understand " more than sad" , been there more than a few times in my life. Sometimes the only thought that kept me going was the fact that I knew my kids needed a mother. I had to keep trusting God in the darkness. I echo your thanks for Dr's and pharmaceutical companies that develop the meds we can take to help us deal with depression .

Chad was a friend of mine. We all thought things were great with Tracy and Chad. One day while Tracy and the kids were out of town visiting relatives, a few months ago, Chad took out his hunting rifle and killed himself. The demons within him were not visible, even to the medical person in me.

I sometimes wish I had been able to help Chad. He was a great guy. But I know, it was not to be. Thank you Emmett for these words.

Thank you Emmett, for writing back to Corey. You backed up my feelings exactly.I got very excited because I thought she was disregarding anti-depressants, a feeling i got from the title of her article. I did not want sad people who have been sad for a long while to be discouraged from seeking help. Many people are afraid to go for help. There is, unfortunately, a stigma attached to depression. I believe she understands now. I am so sorry that you lost your friend. Maybe we can form a group to make people aware of the dangers of ignored depression! have a good day.

Thank you all for caring enough to write. Steven died about 15 years ago... The wierd thing is, he hung himself, and when the Police contacted a friend of his that friend told them to call me. It seems I was concidered by many to be his real friend. I was called ahead of time and warned and then the police called I told them I'd loook up the next of kin numbers for them, and call them back... but what I did was called stevens brother and sister to tell them myself, and this was so hard, but I couldn't let it be a police man ... someone who didn't know him tell them this horrible thing... they didnt know me, but I knew him and we all helped each other.

Emmett. Your poem is full of love and pain. I'm sorry that you lost your friend, but I am glad that you got help. I have been on meds for years and I don't want to be, but I wouldn't be here if it weren't for them. Sometimes, even with them, I have times when I feel like I would be better off if I crawled in a hole. It is so tragic that your friend did not get help. I'm really sorry.

I think suicide is at the top of the list of things that our minds can't process. It disrupts the natural order of things. Some times we never find an answer to why.

I'm sorry for the pain of losing your friend. I am however grateful that you are here, spreading love and light.

I went through a similar situation with a friend of mine when I was still a teenager, so I definitely can relate to the sense of loss here. You do a wonderful job communicating it here, and I hope that it brings you some sense of closure. My sympathies for your loss.

Thanks Emmett, your words are direct, simple, and truely share the state of depression for those of us that have experienced it. I hope it is the same for those who haven't been sooooooo depressed.
And I understand the helpless feeling when a friend/neighbor takes their own life. I know the guilt of feeling that I should have known or done something to help.
