I'd love to see "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" made into a movie. I didn't think I would like the book because it is about dog breeding but it has very interesting characters and lots of twists and turns.

I really need some books so that I can get back to reading on a regular basis
I read a really great thriller that I would love to see turned into a movie....unfortunately, right now I can 't remember either the author or the title of the book!

Marsha, Lisa Jackson is a great author. I waited patient for her 2nd book Chosen to Die. The first was Left to Die. They were both great reads.

I'm always let down by movies-from-books because I am more of a reader than a watcher. I would hate to doom any of my beloved favorites to the movie screen, so I'm going to just say a book I know has a destiny to become a movie, the Lost Symbol by Dan Brown which if it doesn't become a movie I'd be actually really suprised.
Elaine K. Oct 21, 2009, 6:09pm EDT
Heather, I would agree with you on Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol!" By far, I think it is his best writing yet! I loved "Angels and Demons" and until this latest book, thought it was the best.....I didn't think he could write something even better. Boy, was I wrong!

Faye Kellerman's The Mercedes Coffin. This was such a great murder mystery involving a cold case and the connection to a current murder. Detective Peter Decker, one of my favorite detectives, along with his wife Rina Lazarus plug away at connecting the dots in this story which is full of twists and turns. I think it would make a wonderful movie and keep the audience guessing throughout!

I would have to say "The Death of Tutankhamun". I have seen plenty of documentaries and read a lot about it. But I really feel it would be a wonderful movie. As long as it was not turned into something totally way out there. That and "The UnDutchables" by Colin White and Laurie Boucke. It is about the life and ways of the typical Netherlander. (Dutch people) The book itself is super hilarious and 99% of this book is true to life! It would make a hilarious, funny, side-splitting comedy!!!

The one I've been waiting on is actually The Lovely Bones. I was so glad that they decided to make it into a film. It's been several years coming too. Can't wait till December to see it.

I also think Still Life by Joy Fielding would make a great thriller movie.

Janet Evanovich's One for the Money. The book is fantastic, a real laugh out loud. I can even see Sandra Bullocks as the main character, Stephanie Plum, a woman down on her luck turning into a "bounty hunter" for her bail-bondsman cousin.

For a good horror movie, I like to see Bently Little's The Mailman...make you think twice waiting for the mailman. (any of this author's work would make excellent movies, they aren't gore, they are all about what is the norm twisted around with a psychological twist throughout. I highly recomment if you never read him, to start with The Store.

I think the book I just posted a review on, 'The Family Fortune' which is a retelling of one of my favorite Jane Austen book's 'Persuassion.' For several reasons I think this would be a good book to film choice.

1. Anything Jane Austen tends to do well with a certain demographic be it movies based on her original works or retellings of her novels in modern film form.

2. 'Persuassion' to the best of my knowledge has not been remade into a modern film story unlike several others.

3. The role of the main character would be perfect for several actresses. As I spy Nellie's comment above, Sandra Bullock would be great.

4. I thought the book was well written and offers a fairly good template to make into a film, particularly since some of the characters in the novel are associated with Hollywood (and Hollywood does love to portray itself in film).

I completely agree; that book was wonderful. I'd like to also add that any other book by Terry Pratchett would make an incredible movie...they're so fantastical & imaginative.

They are actually turning the book I want to see into a movie and I'm thrilled! Alice in Wonderland!

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver or Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich. Both would make excellent films.

A documentary based on the Ehrenreich book would be good.

I would like to see Send in the Idiots: Stories from the Other Side of Autism by Kamran Nazeer made into a movie. It would be a challenge to capture the the author's perspective on film. (The author is autistic and a political advisor in the British government) As one of the autistic friends of the author's states, "An autistic person's idea of extreme sports is starting a converstation with a stranger." Capture that on film and I would be impressed.

I would like to see the Alchemist's Daughter by Eileen Kernaghan. It was a fantastic book that would make an even beter movie if done correctly.
