Do you enjoy mystery books? This week you could win a set of books from James Patterson's series, The Women's Murder Club, the second bestselling detective series in the US in the past 12 years (only second to Patterson's Alex Cross series.) You'll receive all the books in The Women's Murder Club, including Patterson's latest in the set, The 8th Confession.
The 8th Confession (hardcover): When a preacher with a message of hope for the homeless is found brutally executed, reporter Cindy Thomas knows the story could be huge. Probing deeper into the victim's history, she discovers he may not have been as saintly as everyone thought...
Rich, beautiful, and powerful, Isa and Ethan Bailey were living in the spotlight as San Francisco's perfect couple--until they are found dead in their luxurious home.
As the hunt for two criminals tests the skills of the entire Women's Murder Club, sparks begin to fly between Detective Lindsay Boxer and her partner, Rich Conklin, making it difficult to stay focused on the case. I was going to do the Oh Pick Me Pick Me thingy but I thought I would try and be mature.
I like Columbo from t.v.~
In books, my favorite detective is Alex Cross, which is another of Patterson's creations.
In TV, though, my favorite detective is Agent Seely Booth, with the help of Dr. Temperence Brennen, from Fox's Bones series- which is based on a book series AND the real life of criminal anthropologist Kathy Reichs. I couldn't get into the books, though, but they aren't the same as the show.
I also love watching NCIS, CSI:NY, and Criminal Minds.
My favorite shows are all the Law & Order series, starting with Criminal Intent as I just love how smart Bobby Goren is and figures out these complicated things, and his profiling as another of our favorites was when Court TV (now True TV and ruined in my opinion) was Dale Hinman who is/was a profiler. Forensic Files is watched, ID TV has great detective and law shows. I've even started to like NCIS for the investigative work they do.
So, yeah, I think I'd really like all of these books.
my favorite detective is Benson from law and order SVU played by Mariska she is great!.
ps i hope this is not open just to women. men like to read too.....
My favorite detective in a book is Lucas Davenport from John Sandford's "Prey" series. In a TV show I'd have to pick Detective Mike Logan from the original L&O. (of course that's mostly because he was portrayed by the sexy Chris Noth!)
On TV, I like almost all of the Law and Order detectives.
This is a great prize pack - I'd love to read his work!
my favorite detective would have to be matlock but their are so many good ones i like
Vikki named one of my favorites, Lucas Davenport is definitely a good one and Sandford is a regular on my reading list too. So I'll say Pierce Quincy who is one of Lisa Gardener's reoccurring characters.
Leave as many comments as you like, though your name will only be included once in the drawing. But make sure to answer the question for your comment to count.
I love the way he incorporates Alex's family and friends into the books. With each new book not only to you get to enjoy a great thriller, it’s so fun to see how Alex’s kids (and Alex) are growing up!
My favorite detective is Olivia Benson from Law and Order SVU
My favorite is Grace, played by Holly Hunter in Saving Grace. She is the most unique and the strongest female character I have ever seen in a television show. I love how complex she is, and how she does not always know the answers, yet her heart is always in the right place.
my favorite TV detective is elliot stabler on "law & order: special victims unit". he's played by christopher meloni and he's so damn hot!
my favorite TV detective is Jim Brass from CSI.
My favorite television detective is Adrian Monk, from the "Monk" series. Tony Shalhoub brings to life a complicated man with a brilliant mind. The show is also peppered with fun wit and is a nice escape from everyday stress.
I have read many of James Patterson's books about Maximum and her winged friends, so I have always wanted to delve into some of his other types of stories. This series sounds really interesting!
I would really love to win these books! My daughter has started to read them and she likes them too.
I was just checking out the James Patterson website for my son. He had read the Maximum Ride series. I read them all, as well, plus one of the Alex Cross books, and really like Patterson's writing style. I hope to pick up the latest Maximum book this week.
Thanks for doubling the prizes Stefanie!
My husband and I LOVE watching CSI, Law & Order, NCIS, Bones, NUMB3RS, Without A Trace, Lie To Me... all of those crime detective shows. We watch them all the time and really enjoy them.
I LOVE Elliot Stabler!
I have read every James Patterson book, including all the Women's Murder Club books. As a matter of fact I am reading Run For Your Life right now. I just finished Cross Country and my DH is reading Sail. I love the way the Patterson books have short chapters, are so easy to read and they are real page turners. The added bits about what is going on in the Cross family are great also.
The Michael Bennett dectective novels are excellent also, but my favorite is the Women's Murder Club series. I have been anxiously waiting for the 8th book.
I've not had a chance to read any of the Women's Murder Club books, though I do enjoy Patterson's books. I particularly enjoyed The Lake House, which I gather was a departure from his usual style.
The show is hilarious.
I would love to read these books!
In real life it is the detective who got me safely to the battered women's shelter when I left my abusive ex
I am also a fan of Mikhail Blomqvist and Lisbeth Sallander in the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series.
Lee Child's Jack Reacher is totallty cool - he is the man! Odd Thomas sees dead people, so he has a big advantage and unique adventures. Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum cracks me up. Each has something special.
I would love to win these books. I've only read one and I liked it a lot.
As for TV....I have a lot of favorite detectives...I love Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) on NCIS...and of coarse, I loved Magnum P.I. (Tom Selleck)....and I do think McGuyver (Richard Dean Anderson) falls in to the detective category.
For my favorite television detectives, I'd have to say the partners Elliott Stabler and Olivia Benson.
For humor I like Janet Evanovich's character Stephanie Plum. For just general reading I like John Sandford's Lucas Davenport, Lee Child's Jack Reacher, and Robert B. Parker's Jesse Stone and Spenser.
I don't think I could pick one favorite. They are all good in different ways.
My favorite character in a book is eve Dallas of the In Death series, I love the NCIS show on TV and I used to love Murder She wrote :)
Definitely Charlie Crews of Life. Despite the lost years of his wrongful imprisonment, he's back at solving crimes and helping others, while secretly figuring out his own. His approach to figuring out crimes has everyone baffled, thinking he is out of mind but he always comes through.
My favorite one woulde be Colombo. I used to watch it all the times with my parents
I guess my fav detective would be Colombo, haven't watched much tv lately.
I would absolutely LOVE to win these books. Ever since Women's Murder Club got cancelled, I've been looking for something to peak my interest like that show did, but nothing's been good enough. I've always wanted to read the books that inspired the series, but I haven't had the extra money in our budget for books.
On television, when I was a kid I used to love to watch Angie Dickinson play Pepper Anderson on Police Woman. I also enjoyed Charlie's Angels - the old television show and the modern movie. I find Holly Hunter very entertaining in Saving Grace because her character is so unique. I also get a kick out of Monk because he seems so unlikely to solve the mystery yet he always does. I love a good mystery!!
I love James Patterson...I want to win! Thank you for this opportunity!
My all time favorite detective is Colombo!! I do impersonations of him, how can you not love his "subtle" approach. LOL
TV THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY GOOD ONES MY NEWSEST FAV IS MR.JANE FROM THE
MENTALIST.
I would have to say munk on TV and Nancy Drew as far as books
It would be hard to pick one lol
I love them all!

I love Brenda from The Closer...it's intriguing how her mind works and how she can manipulate the truth out of person. I always love how she uses her team, with all their quirks, and draws strengths from them.
