March 31, 2009 04:12 PM EDT (Updated: March 31, 2009 05:15 PM EDT)
views: 413 | rating: 10/10 (37 votes) | comments: 98

Do you enjoy mystery books? This week you could win a set of books from James Patterson's series, The Women's Murder Club, the second bestselling detective series in the US in the past 12 years (only second to Patterson's Alex Cross series.) You'll receive all the books in The Women's Murder Club, including Patterson's latest in the set, The 8th Confession.

The 8th Confession (hardcover): When a preacher with a message of hope for the homeless is found brutally executed, reporter Cindy Thomas knows the story could be huge. Probing deeper into the victim's history, she discovers he may not have been as saintly as everyone thought...

Rich, beautiful, and powerful, Isa and Ethan Bailey were living in the spotlight as San Francisco's perfect couple--until they are found dead in their luxurious home.

As the hunt for two criminals tests the skills of the entire Women's Murder Club, sparks begin to fly between Detective Lindsay Boxer and her partner, Rich Conklin, making it difficult to stay focused on the case. The electrifying new chapter in the Women's Murder Club series, THE 8TH CONFESSION serves up the mile-a-minute twists that only James Patterson can deliver.

Other books in the series you could win include (in paperback):

  • 1st to Die
  • 2nd Chance
  • 3rd Degree
  • 4th of July
  • The 5th Horseman
  • The 6th Target
  • 7th Heaven

I absolutely LOVE James Patterson, but have not had a chance to start these books.

In books, my favorite detective is Alex Cross, which is another of Patterson's creations.

In TV, though, my favorite detective is Agent Seely Booth, with the help of Dr. Temperence Brennen, from Fox's Bones series- which is based on a book series AND the real life of criminal anthropologist Kathy Reichs. I couldn't get into the books, though, but they aren't the same as the show.

I also love watching NCIS, CSI:NY, and Criminal Minds.

I would just LOVE this. Everything I watch on TV, as I don't go to the movies often is about Law, Detectives, Forensics. I'm just fascinated with it all.

My favorite shows are all the Law & Order series, starting with Criminal Intent as I just love how smart Bobby Goren is and figures out these complicated things, and his profiling as another of our favorites was when Court TV (now True TV and ruined in my opinion) was Dale Hinman who is/was a profiler. Forensic Files is watched, ID TV has great detective and law shows. I've even started to like NCIS for the investigative work they do.
So, yeah, I think I'd really like all of these books.

Oh how awesome! I love detective shows, books, movies, etc.

My favorite detective in a book is Lucas Davenport from John Sandford's "Prey" series. In a TV show I'd have to pick Detective Mike Logan from the original L&O. (of course that's mostly because he was portrayed by the sexy Chris Noth!)

I've never read this series, but have read all the Alex Cross novels plus some of Patterson's other stuff Like Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas.

Vikki named one of my favorites, Lucas Davenport is definitely a good one and Sandford is a regular on my reading list too. So I'll say Pierce Quincy who is one of Lisa Gardener's reoccurring characters.

Books: My favorite detective is Alex Cross. I’ve read all of Patterson's Cross books; the stories and characters are so interesting.

I love the way he incorporates Alex's family and friends into the books. With each new book not only to you get to enjoy a great thriller, it’s so fun to see how Alex’s kids (and Alex) are growing up!

Oh, how I would love to win those books.

My favorite is Grace, played by Holly Hunter in Saving Grace. She is the most unique and the strongest female character I have ever seen in a television show. I love how complex she is, and how she does not always know the answers, yet her heart is always in the right place.

Sherlock Holmes is my favorite detective in fiction books. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created not only a fabulously written collection of tricky mysteries for readers to solve, but an intriguing lead character who was a mystery in and of himself!

My favorite television detective is Adrian Monk, from the "Monk" series. Tony Shalhoub brings to life a complicated man with a brilliant mind. The show is also peppered with fun wit and is a nice escape from everyday stress.

I have read many of James Patterson's books about Maximum and her winged friends, so I have always wanted to delve into some of his other types of stories. This series sounds really interesting!

I absolutely love James Pattersons books. I especially like the ones with Alex Cross in them, so I guess that I would have to say that I like Alex Cross for a favorite in a book, and I love the old Sherlock Holmes movies and for t.v. I would have to say I still really like the character Jessica Fletcher in Murder She Wrote.
I would really love to win these books! My daughter has started to read them and she likes them too.

I read a lot of books, but my favorite detective is Detective M. Clousseau, as portrayed by Peter Sellers! On a serious note, I have to say Sherlock is tops...

I was just checking out the James Patterson website for my son. He had read the Maximum Ride series. I read them all, as well, plus one of the Alex Cross books, and really like Patterson's writing style. I hope to pick up the latest Maximum book this week.

Lindsay Boxer is the best, she holds the women together and keeps them grounded.

I have read every James Patterson book, including all the Women's Murder Club books. As a matter of fact I am reading Run For Your Life right now. I just finished Cross Country and my DH is reading Sail. I love the way the Patterson books have short chapters, are so easy to read and they are real page turners. The added bits about what is going on in the Cross family are great also.
The Michael Bennett dectective novels are excellent also, but my favorite is the Women's Murder Club series. I have been anxiously waiting for the 8th book.

My favorite detective? Hmm. Tough choice. My favorite is Peter Falk's Columbo. Columbo is just so quirky and strange and yet perceptive and Peter Falk plays him with such cunning dumbness.

I've not had a chance to read any of the Women's Murder Club books, though I do enjoy Patterson's books. I particularly enjoyed The Lake House, which I gather was a departure from his usual style.

I love the t.v. show Pysche. The lead character Shawn, is a psychic detective. At least he wants everyone to believe that he is. He's just super observant and pick up clues that no one else can't, not even the police.

This is a great giveaway. I like many detective series on television and my mystery books. I like Psych like Angela does. He's hilarious. I cannot narrow it down to a single person but my favorite detectives are the entire cast of Criminal Minds. They are criminal profilers for the BAU. They come into a crime scene and give a profile of the suspect. I cannot pick a single person because I love the team dynamic. They all give something special to the unit. It's a must-see.

keep the Patterson book; I am way too busy to read his stuff. Oh my goodness, that came out sounding really snide. Well, let it stand. It's not that Patterson is an offense against humanity, it's just that you can't write 3 novels per year and expect them to be much good.

Choosing one is almost impossible, especially when they have such individual talents and styles! I really like Kinsey Milhone in Sue Grafton's Alphabet mystery series.

Lee Child's Jack Reacher is totallty cool - he is the man! Odd Thomas sees dead people, so he has a big advantage and unique adventures. Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum cracks me up. Each has something special.

I would love to win these books. I've only read one and I liked it a lot.

As for TV....I have a lot of favorite detectives...I love Agent Gibbs (Mark Harmon) on NCIS...and of coarse, I loved Magnum P.I. (Tom Selleck)....and I do think McGuyver (Richard Dean Anderson) falls in to the detective category.

A a dedicated James Patterson fan, I must admit that my favorite detective is Alex Cross. His steadfast sense of righteousness combined with his clever analytical senses manage to find the killer every time.....and of course with Patterson's expertise as a killer-thriller author, we never know the outcome until the end of the book!

I really enjoyed reading them, the not wanting to put the book down feeling because you have to know what will happen next! I've not read any of James Patterson's books, this would be an awesome win!

I love mystery novels. The intrigue, the suspense and catching the bad guys. My favorite detectives are Remmington Steele, he was just so fine, and Jessica Fletcher from Murder She Wrote. I used to watch those shows all the time.

Who is my favorite TV show detective?
Definitely Charlie Crews of Life. Despite the lost years of his wrongful imprisonment, he's back at solving crimes and helping others, while secretly figuring out his own. His approach to figuring out crimes has everyone baffled, thinking he is out of mind but he always comes through.

I would love to win these books. James Patterson is my favorite author, and Alex Cross is my favorite detective from a book. It is hard to pick a favorite detective from TV because there are so many, but, I'd have to go with Det. Benson from Law and order SVU. Thanks for the very generous giveaway, I have me finger crossed:)

I've read the first 4 in this series, and I'm a huge fan of James Patterson, reading many more of his novels. Alex Cross is great, but my fave detective by far is Stephanie Plum, who is authored by Janet Evanovich and is definitely my top choice for female crime novelist.

My favorite detective in a TV Show was Lindsay Boxer on ABC's "Women's Murder Club" which was a series based on these books. I watched every single episode of this show twice and I was in love with it. It was such a great combination of mystery, suspense, drama, and a little comedy too with the relationships between the women. I was so upset when they cancelled this series, I actually signed several petitions and emailed execs at ABC to try and get it back on the air.

I would absolutely LOVE to win these books. Ever since Women's Murder Club got cancelled, I've been looking for something to peak my interest like that show did, but nothing's been good enough. I've always wanted to read the books that inspired the series, but I haven't had the extra money in our budget for books.

Wow, I have a lot of favorite detectives. In books, my favorite detectives are Jane Marple (I just love Agatha Christie - Hercule Poiret is cool, too) and Nancy Drew. Who expects an elderly lady or a young girl to crack the case - but they always do. I also like Stephanie Plum in the Janet Evanovich novels (how can I resist a Hungarian/Italian bounty hunter when I relate so well?)

On television, when I was a kid I used to love to watch Angie Dickinson play Pepper Anderson on Police Woman. I also enjoyed Charlie's Angels - the old television show and the modern movie. I find Holly Hunter very entertaining in Saving Grace because her character is so unique. I also get a kick out of Monk because he seems so unlikely to solve the mystery yet he always does. I love a good mystery!!

Alex Cross...fell in love with him when I first watched the movie "Along Came a Spider." After that I got involved with the James Patterson novels. Alex Cross and I have an intimate relationship. He goes to bed with me almost every night. I have a really hard time putting the books down. Even at work, if I have a 5 minute break, Alex Cross takes one with me.

I love James Patterson...I want to win! Thank you for this opportunity!

I would have to say Bones from the show Bones. I am not sure if she would be considered a detective but it does seem like the work she does is. She always solves the crime (or no crime lol)

I just realized why I missed this contest, we were on Florida from March 26 to April 5th. My niece and nephew, whom we were staying with, do not have internet access. I was lost w/o it.

I love Brenda from The Closer...it's intriguing how her mind works and how she can manipulate the truth out of person. I always love how she uses her team, with all their quirks, and draws strengths from them.
