Do you enjoy reading books and discussing them with your family and friends? Then join us in the Gather Book Club. I'm excited to announce our next book title…

We'll be reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Gather is giving away ten free copies of this book. For a chance to receive a book tell us your interest in reading it in the comment field below. Responses must be posted by Saturday, October 25th. Whether or not you are chosen to receive a free copy, everyone is invited to join the book club. The meeting time for the book club will be announced soon!

I would LOVE to read this book! I am an avid reader and love reading new books by a variety of authors! Reading is one of my ways to "escape" and relax! As a mom, it's one of my only ME times and I cherish that time!

As someone who is still in the midst of recovering from cancer treatment, I am in a similar position as Bridget Jean, I want to escape my reality some days. I find so often by reading books, I find a kindred spirit in one of the characters that offers me insight into my own life.

I read the book a few years ago - for a book club, my mother's.
I arrived one day, the book club met the next day.
And, yes, I'd finished reading the book.
I've read her other books, but they are not as good as this one is.

I had this book several years ago and started reading it. We moved and it got lost in the move. I would love to be able to read the entire book. I don't remember anything from the first few chapters I was able to read.

I would love to get a copy of "The Secret Life of Bees". I've heard so much positive about it.

The new book club is wonderful. It was a joy to discuss the last book and I look forward to discussing this book with the wise Gather readers.
This book has gotten a lot of great reviews, and with the movie, it's definitely one I'm interested in.

I am eager to read The Secret Life of Bees. I just looked it up and this is a great choice for the book club. Like our last book, it is a period piece and that made the discussions so interesting for Water for Elephants.

I just love historical fiction and Sue Monk Kidd's book "The Secret Life of Bees" fits the bill well ; as it's setting is in South Carolina during the turbulent 60's. Besides I can relate to the books themes of loneliness and the need to be needed, and searching for identity. I also will be seeing the recently released movie based on this book this coming weekend. I enjoyed the Gather book club so much, particularly the discussion with author Sara Gruen, and I really look forward to the continuation of the club. This is a great choice, something a lot of us have wanted to read! I'd love to get this book; it's something I've been longing to read for awhile now, and I finally have my excuse!

I would be so excited to read this book!!!The movie was wonderful!!!!!!!!This is something that I would love to share with my 17 year old daughter who just went thru a horrible breakup and this would just show her that hope and love is still out there!

I already read this book a few years ago. Although I didn't like it as much as it seems others do, I'd still like to join in with the chat about it. I figure I can talk about the things I didn't like. That should generate conversation.

Even though I would have liked to discuss one of the books I suggested, it's right that you chose this one. It was obviously the choice of the majority of people who gave suggestions.

I have seen the previews of this movie and it does look very interesting and like it has a moral to it which is good now days for movies because alot dont have a moral to it. But usually the book is always better than the movies. I love to read because it is my way to relax and here lately relaxing is what I need to do. With my husband's health being bad and my job cutting me back to one day a week. I will not be able to buy any books anymore due to the pay cut. So please pick me and I will greatly appreciate it alot

I haven't heard much about this book - however, the movie looks interesting, and since books are pretty much always significantly better than the movie, I think I'd like to read it.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie and the book is on my list of "books to read", unfortunately the list is very long and the money tree isn't growing... so I'm on the waiting list for my library, hopefully I can get it soon, if not a free book would sure come in handy! ;)

I have been reading since I was old enough to *pretend* to read. I love to get lost in a good story, following the characters and feeling their emotions. Like others, it's my alone time...I often take a book to work and read on lunch, just to escape for half an hour!

I would love to read this book, not just because it sounds like an interesting story to delve into, and so many others are giving it rave reviews, but I want to see what the others who didn't like it as much see differently.

I haven't heard of this book, but the reviews and comments here sound interesting. I am always looking for new genres and authors to enjoy and I think this would make for an interesting read.

I would love the chance to read "The Secret Life of Bees".
I am an obcessive reader and this book is on my "wish list". It sounds like such a great story, and a great read is the perfect way to relax. In the tub, with bubbles and candles and a glass of wine...and...and...*sigh*

As a fan of Sue Monk Kidd, I'm looking forward to what surprises she has in store for us in this book. I loved "The Mermaid Chair", the character contrast's and somewhat dark sub-tales were wonderful.

I'm excited about this one!

I saw the movie on Oprah and after seeing the show about this movie. I would really love to read this book. I can't wait untill this movie comes out. It looks like it would be a excellent book to read. After seeing that show I have really want to read the book to see what this movie is about.

I too would like to read this book. First day to be with GATHER. I am an author and have also just completed a Historical Fiction Book named BURNING SUNSHINE. I like to read other authors books and see the different styles of writing, PLUS, I just love a good book.
