Do you enjoy reading and discussing your favorite books with others? Join our free online book club!
The Gather Book Club is a chat on Gather, which is featured in Books.gather.com. Anyone is welcome to join. We will have limited free copies available to those who would like to participate. The first book we read was Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. We’re now looking for a second book to read in our chat series.
Do you have an idea for the next book to read? Leave your suggestions in the comment field below. Some things to keep in mind…
- Choose a well-known book that your family and friends on Gather would be interested in reading. Consider bestsellers and classics, titles that one could easily find in his or her boostore.
- Is the book available in paperback? Many of us are on a budget, so keep inexpensive choices in mind.
I look forward to reading your suggestions!
Stay tuned! Our next featured book and first meeting time will be announced soon.

Both are available in paperback, and have book club questions in the back, similar to the way Water for Elephants did. Both are thought provoking, and very... well, thought provoking.
Both books are written from several point of views, and each is drastically different, and while one POV might make you look at another person as the villain of the story, that person's POV will totally change your mind.
The books are just fantastic. My Sister's Keeper is currently in production for a movie, or in post production, staring Cameron Diaz.
I would LOVE to see these two books discussed.
Another good choice would be :"The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd which opens this week as a movie.
I am looking forward to the next cook club session with Sara Gruen. I enjoy learning more about authors and the books they write.
Usually the movie version of the novel is not as good(in my opinion) but I do enjoy seeing how the director and actors tell the story.
I hope to see it in the theater or it will eventually end up on my Netflix queue.
I think that I'll pick My Sister's Keeper never read anything from this author.
So many books....
* The Reader by Bernard Schlink
* Strangers on a Train by Patricia Highsmith
* The Double Bind by Chris Bohjalian
I like the idea of discussing a book that will provoke lots of conversation.
It seems like many are saying The secret Life of Bees, that is cool with me.
Or, on a more serious note, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"--a great book I was forced to read in college (thank God).
It is a book club ready saga with two gorgeous women at the center and it also imagines an affair with legendary Errol Flynn the swahbuckler hiself
I just had a thought, what about Rhett Butler's People by Donald McCaig. It has been out for a bit, so it is cheap on Amazon. Also, we could compare and contrast it to GWTW.
Read my review of it here on Gather.
The title is Rogue hunter, by Lynsay Sands. The book is based on a series about a family of vampires, who is protected by a counsel. And, one of the members of the council, who is the hero in this book, is hunting rogue vampires. Ones that are biting humans without permission. You see, they have so many rules, that these vampires must follow, but, there are some that still like to defy the council, and thus, this is where the hero comes in to save the day.
I haven't read the book, only a four chapter excerpt from Avon/harpercollins, and this book is simply marvelous! I recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romance.
Attending or reading the discussion chat can pique interest in others to read a book.
