April Newton has every reason to be elated. She just passed her 5-year anniversary of being cancer free, her husband is building a dream house just for her, and her daughter is a star athlete who also is a straight A student. Despite all of this, she feels as though she is missing something.
One afternoon she happens upon a house for sale - the last beach bungalow on that block. However, this house is different. The owner is holding a contest to decide who will get the right to purchase the bungalow! April begins looking into the house under the pretext of writing a story about it, but soon becomes obsessed with winning the right to buy the house. As she tries to win the house, she learns a lot about herself, her family, and what makes a home.
I highly recommend this book. It's a quick read, but full of heart. Jennie Nash, the author, is a breast cancer survivor and it is evident throughout the book. It's a good thing that it's a quick read also, because you won't be able to put it down once you start reading it! If you're a member of a book club it even has questions to help you out in discussing the book at the end. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!
