Beginning next month, HarperCollins will be featuring the best of their nonfiction books and authors in the new group Great Reads on Gather. Great Reads will introduce you to at least two new authors each month, and here's the best part: we're giving away free copies of each book to members interested in writing book reviews!
To start off, Great Reads is offering Gather members a lesson in the fine art of communication, for both writing and speech. For the Love of Letters, by Samara O'Shea, details the secrets to eloquent composition for business and personal letters. Bilingual Edge, written by two linguistics professors from Georgetown University, guides parents on the hows and whys of raising their children to be bilingual.
Gather members already tend to be a pretty well-spoken, well-read bunch, but who's to say we couldn't all use a little brushing-up? :)
Request a copy by sending me a message with your mailing address and interest in writing a review, with "Book Request" written in the subject line. Please note that only writers who agree to review the book will be selected. Quantities are limited.
To protect your privacy, please do not post personal information (mailing address, email, phone number) on this article!
About the Books:

Have you ever wanted to write a thank-you note and suffered writer's block? Considered penning a passionate letter to your beloved, but had no idea where to begin? Needed to send a sympathy message, but couldn't find the right words? Fear not. Professional letter writer Samara O'Shea is here to spark your creativity and answer all your letter-writing questions in this charming guide.
For the Love of Letters is an anecdotal primer on letter writing, with tips on how to write all types of notes: love letters, break-up letters, apology letters, thank-you letters, erotic letters (oh yes!), and more.

Parents spend millions of dollars every year on classes, computer programs, and toys, all of which promise to help children learn a second language. But many of their best efforts (and investments) end in disappointment. In The Bilingual Edge, professors and parents King and Mackey wade through the hype and provide clear insights into what actually works.
