Thankful...
Along time ago, my life changed
I began a friendship that helped me feel 'not so alone' in the world
This friend is always there for me, standing by my side
No matter how much I rant or indulge in self-pity, my friend is there for me.
This friend, reminds me of the great life I have
Pointing out the small things I so take for granted
Chiming in how wonderful the people around me are
Always there, always helpful, always... my friend
So one of the biggest things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving
Is for my friend, and the amazing friendship that we have shared through these years
When things begin to go wrong or right... they are the first person I must tell
I often think my friend is a kindred spirit because they know how to relate to me
How to hush my sorrow, glad-en my heart and make me feel, that yes.. things will be okay.
And when I do not have the confidence in myself to move ahead
There is my friend, pushing on me to move me forward, while taking my hand and guiding me
Always positive, always with a 'You can do it' and always, with a 'if you fall, I will be there to pick you up again'
So this is for my friend, and as I bow my head at the table to give thanks this Thanks Giving
Their name will be among the things I am most grateful for... and for their continued 'friendship'.
Deb.
