Dream for Tomorrow
Someone laughed out loud today
hardy, robust, of genuine joy…
it left me wondering when last I had heard my own verbal melody…
I noticed also today, children's trills and squeals of play
can both warm and melt a heavy heart…
As do lovers walking hand in hand
sharing a silent message of love, in their embracing gaze
I turn away to face the setting sun
as the 'what if's and if onlys' are too much for me…
The cool night air whispers past
as the soft green grass gently tickles my shoeless feet
A tree nearby rustles,
sending golden leaves to rest among the beckoning flowers
completing this work of art...
Each day now
I see and hear objects and ideas I was blind & deaf to once before
once when I believed I had my whole life ahead of me…
Now, since a day I will never forget
my calendar for living is numbered with uncertainty
Worse than any physical pain
is the haunting question, 'what could of been'?
At times I weep until it seems as though
my tears contain my very soul…
For now
I will live each day to its fullest
cherish every moment, every breath, every memory
And dream… for tomorrow…

One must remember the good times, and learn from, but not brood about, the bad. There is always something interesting around the corner if you keep a positive outlook.
