I just got this email today and I want to encourage you to sign the petition. Donations are not needed to sign, so please keep the pressure on these crooks who are trying to pay back their lobbyists with our money. Thank you.

Dear Thomas,
I sent you this email on Friday. In an effort to ensure you have read it, I am resending it again this weekend. The national cap-and-trade energy tax is moving again and we need to fight back.
----------
Thomas,
The Dow hit 10,000. If you are concerned about the overall economy you can breathe a sigh of relief.
Thomas,
The Dow hit 10,000. If you are concerned about the overall economy you can breathe a sigh of relief.
That sigh must be small, however, because the liberal Congress is continuing their assault on our economy with policies that will harm, not help, our economy.
Senate liberals are working behind the scenes to advance once again an environmentalist Cap-and-Trade Energy Tax.
It is a $845 billion dollar global warming tax. It's being called a cap-and-trade program, but it's really a massive tax that will be paid for by American businesses and taxpayers.

Studies have shown that it would likely lead to millions of lost jobs, cost the average household $1,300 or more per year and dramatically increase the cost of electricity and gasoline.
It is not what we need as we seek a full, real economic recovery.
The NY Times reported, "President Obama gave a nod yesterday to a budding bipartisan Senate effort on energy and climate legislation during a New Orleans town hall meeting where he also pledged to push for the bill's passage once Congress finishes its work on health care."
You'll remember that this bill only passed the liberal House with a razor-thin margin.
That was because of your work with ACU on this issue. We have the liberals on the ropes now we cannot let up as they seek to work behind the scenes to get this done. If we defeat it in the Senate it is dead - if we send a strong message we can defeat it before the House and Senate reconcile and pass a final bill.

On Wednesday of this week, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported that Cap-and-Trade will slow our economy.
The Washington Post said that the CBO reported a Cap-and-Trade energy tax scheme would cut the nation's gross domestic product by up to 3.5 percent by the year 2050.
That's right. The environmentalist, liberal proposal will harm - not help - our economy. It should not surprise us.
Even the Post was forced to run a headline that read, "Cap-and-Trade Would Slow Economy."
We do not need a slow economy right now.

Congressman Joe Barton (R-TX), a conservative in the House, pointed out how bad it could be.
He said, "One estimate puts the price per family of four at $29,373 over 10 years. Another estimate is that it will raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation, and boost gasoline prices 74 percent and natural gas prices 55 percent" when talking of the climate change scheme.

When he started this push, Obama actually warned us last year.
FOX NEWS reported , that then-candidate Obama spoke in San Francisco early last year, saying, "under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Because I'm capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it, whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers."

In the middle of an economic recovery - when Americans have been burdened by so much additional government spending and debt - can we afford cap-and-trade?
We need to stop the Obama-Pelosi push.
We need to stop the Obama-Pelosi push.
The ultra liberals in Congress already rejected several common sense amendments in the House and they will likely do the same in the Senate. They are trying to hide the real effects of their plans.
- House Liberal Democrats rejected a GOP amendment designed to protect middle-class families by stopping the national energy tax if gasoline prices hit $5 per gallon.
- House Liberals rejected an amendment that said if the U.S. unemployment rate should hit 15% or higher, the tax would end.
- They stopped an effort to end the new taxes if electricity bills increased more than 10 percent over 2009 rates.
These same liberals even voted against efforts to require any price increase from cap-and-trade be fully disclosed.
They do not want Americans knowing the real cost of this destructive plan.

Stories from all across the nation say this new tax will harm American businesses and family budgets. Just four days ago an AP article on Cap and Trade accurately reported , "energy prices will jump," under the scheme.
When they interviewed a small business - the Belden Brick Co in Sugarcreek, Ohio the owner said, t will cause "layoffs."

We need to keep the pressure on now - to stop this tax.
Thank you for all you do for ACU, as we fight for you and America.
Sincerely,

Dennis Whitfield
Executive Vice President
former Reagan Deputy Secretary of Labor
P.S. Remember how we told you that Al Gore, who is personally lobbying for this bill, may have a financial stake in the outcome? Conservative Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) noted Gore is personally invested as a partner in the firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers which may benefit from the plan. Should we allow Al Gore to win on this issue - tax average Americans - and personally profit from it?
Help us fight back NOW. Send a Message to Congress Now. SIGN THE PETITION AND SUPPORT ACU: Tell the Senate Not to Pass an Economy Ruining Cap-and-Trade Energy Tax.
