Beginning November 30, this week's JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater from NPR features host Bridgewater's new CD, Red Earth - A Malian Journey, in concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
Vocalist Bridgewater, her trio, and musicians on traditional instruments from Mali and Senegal blend jazz and West African music into a new sound. It's singable, danceable, thought-provoking, and will linger in your mind long after the broadcast.
The guest host of this JazzSet is the African popular music expert Georges Collinet, host of his own long-running series, Afropop Worldwide from Public Radio International.
Radio broadcast times can be accessed through the website of your
JazzSet station, and also through npr.jazzset.org.
JazzSet airs as well on NPR Worldwide. International listeners, please consult your program guide to NPR Worldwide for broadcast time.
Beginning November 30, anyone can listen to the show on demand at npr.jazzset.org.
