Okay all, I'm a big Donny fan, I admit that right from the start, so I guess you'll think I'm biased--well you're probably right, but here's my review anyway !!!
Now coming from the UK I've already had the chance to listen to this new cd for a month and it is awesome. I know some wondered why Donny re-visited the 70's especially when he had already done love songs from that era on another cd--but he answered this himself, he wanted to record-in his own way- the songs that he loved or inspired him in the 70's.
I can't claim to love all the songs, but I do love most of the songs--my favs are Sometimes When We Touch and Girl, my least favs are Alone Again Naturally and When I Need You. But what I have enjoyed on the cd is that Donny sings differently on some of the songs, we get to hear him in a different light, we get an insight on the songs he enjoyed way back then, and to see which tallied with some of my favs.
It is a cd which showcases Donny's talent and this was proven in the UK when it went gold within 1week.
Donny is a great performer, he is a delightful man to know, he is great with his fans, and gives us his all---so ok I love the guy ok, but believe me his cd is well worth buying so if you haven't already got it, get it, and if you're in the US go for it, it's out in a few days.

ps: do you miss the cartoon as well? I know I do, especially with some of the Saturday Morning lineup now!
Also Circles is one of the songs which I wasnt too keen on ,but I am loving it at the moment ,after seeing clips of Donny performing it ,
My least favorites are "Mandy" and "How Deep is Your Love". They are associated too much with the original artists for me to like the remakes. It's a great CD. I can't wait to get the copy with the DVD on Tuesday at Target.
I adore Alone again naturally, always have done...its words and feelings reduce me to tears frequently and I love Oh Girl. Mandy leaves me cold.....I cannot get away from the vision of BM sing this song and I really do not care for him at all (sorry to all those BM fans out there!).
To me the cd is a memory of my time in NYC and the fun we had watching BATB and sharing some time with D and my great mates.... I would have prefered to have had another cd full of songs similar to those of WIMTS (BIG HINT THERE !!), so get your butt back into that pool of yours and bring on the smoothies! Until then - this cd will suffice...I have it playing in my car as my kids are fed up of me playing it at home !!
At least 4 colleagues (non - Donny fans too ) were bought this as Mother's Day gifts (our Mother's Day is in March in the UK) amd they all love it. They said it brought back so many memories for them , so if your kids are wondering what gift to get you ....suggest this! Love Songs of the 70s will make you smile, cry, reduce your age by 30 years.........and best of all it is fat free and contains no cholesterol or calories!!
