Folks, don't try this at home. Seriously.
In late August, with my free time, I began playing around with the concept of revising the theme to Jonny Quest. I procrastinated until late September, when I first sketched out what would become this file in Cakewalk Sonar (Producer Edition). Now that it is completed, I have decided to publish my efforts to the world.
Actually, considering the fact that my strengths lie with VFX and not musical composition, I don't believe my efforts are half-bad! It's not John Williams, but it doesn't exactly sound like I kidnapped a parrot and chained him to my keyboard, either. It's a MIDI comp—I hoped you would be able to tell.
At any rate, enjoy. I don't think this piece will make you want to toss yourself off the roof of a tall building or intentionally fall on a pitchfork. Download's below.

With the orchestral VSTs, I used almost all whole notes (with the exception of a couple bars at the end). The Flute VST was simple—I just worked one bar, than copy & pasted notes galore.
It helped for me to listen to the theme to the latest Jonny Quest show, The Real Adventures, over and over again. That's really what I tried to model this after, to some degree of success, I think . . .
Amazing! And then, later, you equated it to Harry Connick Jr. (double ???), which caused me to convulse with guffaws.
The music just had so MANY different timbres to it.
To which, I could have only remarked, WTMF??!!??
transformers, more than meets the eye.
thank you for sharing this! wow!! got more??
Thanks, Bonnie! I actually don't have that much free time, I just procrastinate until I absolutely need to get things done.
Once again, thanks to the both of you fine ladies for commenting!
I can't believe it took me this long to find this post! I would hate to have missed it. I have to say I'm very impressed with the surreal and haunting quality of your composition. It definitely takes talent to compose something like that and I can't wait to hear more!
Thanks for the effusive praise! This score is also at newgrounds.com here, #401 in the rankings as I type this.
