How Many Unsolved Homicides And Other Crimes Are In YOUR City?

I'm Canadian...so I'm sure my town wouldn't be there... but the answer would be none, anyway, I'm pretty sure. One of the benefits of small town life. Not that nothing bad ever happens here - but it usually gets solved pretty quickly on the very rare occasions when it does.

The next city over has record numbers per capita. But ours isn't too bad. Was worse in the 90's.

Probably few in Swartz Creek, but I bet nearby Flint has many.

I am not sure. Years and years ago I lived in a town about 500 miles from here. I did volunteer work at an animal shelter. One summer, some workmen were working on the roadand one of them found the body of a teenage girl. She had been dead for over a month.

I always disputed the official story that her body had been there for all that time. I walked dogs in the area and just before the body was found one dog dragged me through that very woods. One of us volunteers would have found the body sooner if it were there.

It makes me ill to think that maybe it was there and maybe I almost found it. Maybe if I had been more observant...

I can't access that site from work, so I don't know. But I do know of a few unsolved crimes in our area.

I live in a very very little town and there isn't anything that everyone doesn't know about anyone! :) It isn't even in the link.

Then there are the people who just go missing and are never heard from again. Nobody knows how many of them are murdered, how many take their own lives and how many just walk away from their life.

I can't access the site, Donna, but know of a handful of cases in Portsmouth NH. Most occurred within the last two decades and are unsolved murders. At least two had a strong connection to a local beauty school. They'd probably be pretty fascinating to research. Three others involved the murders of elderly people...one couple died when their house was burned...I believe they were murdered and the fire was set to cover tracks...and another elderly lady was murdered in her home...the details on that one were always kept very quiet. The paper always stated that there were details known only to the immediate family and the assailant.

I live in San Antonio, TX.
For some people, nuff said.
But for those unaware, until just a few decades ago, San Antonio enjoyed a reputation of being a sleepy little cow town. This belies the unfortunate fact that our community is very violent. Our annual homicide rate is in the hundreds, maybe higher. Sadly, we grow used to hearing the gruesome details on our local news, on a daily basis. Lots of violence.

In the town i actually live in, there was 1 murder in 2006. Last year, there were at least 2, maybe more. And the one in 2006, went on trial last year. We are way low th nat. ave for crime

I know my town has a lot, my Brother was murdered in 1995 and they didn't find the person yet.

Actually I live in a real small town. I don't believe there are any murders that have went unsolved here. I do think there was a disappearance of a teenage boy where they have never found him.

As far as I know there hasn't been a murder in this town. We did have a string of thefts this summer but I think that has been resolved.

We may have a few but we live in a small town also. Augusta Ga has a lot I grew up near there and I know there are tons there. I do not feel safe visiting there anymore.

I live in a small town and we have quite a few unfortunately. The most vivid is probably a triple murder from the late 70s. Three people were brutally murdered. Two nights later, one of my sister's friends was shot and supposedly there was a connection. (I remember this so vividly because my sister was 10 years older than me and my parents were scared to let her go anywhere. They even made her quit her job.) Two people were tried. One of them had allegedly slept through the murders. Both were found not guilty. No one else was ever charged. I always thought those two guys did it, but about a year ago I talked with a reporter who covered the case and told me a lot of the details and I think they were innocent. I would like to see this case looked at again with the advances in DNA and everything.

Check out Burlington, Iowa, we are famous for unsolved murders, nothing to be proud of.

I haven't lived here for long, so I will have to check it out.
