Meat and cabbage (old german recipe)
Old traditional staple.
6lbs ounces ground beef
2 1/3 cups rice, uncooked ( you could use brown rice with this too )
7/8 cup butter
4 onions, finely sliced / diced
3 eggs, well beaten
7 cups tomato soup
5 carrots, sliced
7 lemons, juice of
7 1/8 teaspoons sugar
7 1/8 teaspoons parsley, minced
3 1/2 cups chopped celery
salt & pepper
I cabbage ( you can use either the regular or red )
Season the hamburger well with salt and pepper and add the egg.
Mix well.
Mix in rice.
To make sauce, melt the butter and add the tomato soup and an equal amount of water and add to onion.
Add the parsley,celery, lemon juice, sugar, salt and pepper, wash the cabbage and boil until tender.
Place in crockpot on and cookonlow for 4 hours.
Serve very hot.
You can also add some chili pepper with seeds, not much to give it some zip.
