My baby daughter just turned eight months old today. Lately, she has been playing what we have dubbed "The Ignoring Game". Most times, when you say her given name, she turns to see what you want. Lately, though, she will sometimes turn the other way with a smile on her face. If you say her name again, the smile gets bigger. Then, she starts to laugh. The more you say her name, the harder she laughs while continuing to look in the opposite direction. She waits for you to grab her, then she squeals with delight and cuddles up against you laughing. It is the cutest thing!
I think it's amazing that she has created her own game already, but then again I'm biased. I think just about anything my girls do is pretty amazing. On the other hand, it makes me a little sad, too. She will be establishing her independence and ignoring us soon enough, and it is starting way too early, even if it is in the form of a game.

B.F. - thank you, and that is what I'm afraid of . . . that it will come back to bite me. For now, though, it is just an innocent game played by a baby.

my daughter ignores me a lot now, but she knows I am right....
Randee - lol . . . I'm going through that with my other daughter now, too.
