I sent this letter to a friend on Gather. A new member that was coerced by my persistant insistance to give it a peek. We were at one time, colleagues. Now we are friends. I deeply value the relationship that we have developed. I have an immense amount of respect for this person and even more for the stances that they take on things. Even if the feelings are generally kept very private.
After re reading it, I feel that it could apply to a lot of people. It needs to become public, and be heard. I also believe the original recipient would respect my reasons for making it so. However, I won't mention names, as it makes no difference.
It begs to be an open letter to many. You will know if it applies to you, just as you will know if it doesn't. You may also know others that may benefit from hearing the same words, and you are more than welcome to share it with them. In fact, I'd welcome it.
It is not too late. It can be done...

Dude, your missing out on sooooo much if your not trolling around or following links to other things! If you aren't sure of anything, let me know, I'll try to explain what I do get [I'm lost here on some things!] to you.
There are some cool people here, that write some really amazing things. And I know you, you are a person with very strong opinions! [albeit sometimes 'closeted' ones for some reason ~that I'll truly never understand] One who has really brilliant ideas, very strong beliefs, wonderful morals and values and ya make a lot of common sense ~those things really deserve to be shared, and hopefully heard. Those are all things that you should be proud of. They are the type of things that you and I said every day, "how come people don't get it"? about. This place is your opportunity to help them to understand, or at least realize there is a problem! We can make a difference...even if it's one comment or article at a time.
