31 Mar - 4 Apr - Harp Festival Concerts: workshops and ceilidhs (A Ceilidh (pronounced "Kay-lay", emphasis on 1st syllable) is many things. It derives from the Gaelic word meaning a visit and originally meant just that (and still does in Gaelic). It can also mean a house party, a concert or more usually an evening of informal Scottish traditional dancing to informal music. ) with some of the best tutors and players in the world.
7 April - 8 April - Easter/Spring Festival: An extravaganza for Easter including many PERFORMERS and a fabulous Easter parade around the centre of the City.
April 30 - Beltane Fire Festival: A celebration of the celtic Beltane quarter day that marks the start of Spring. This has been celebrated in recent years by a fire festival on Calton Hill. For the last few years it has been banned by Edinburgh Council. But it is hoped it will be be back this year.
Mar 12 - April 13 - Puppet Animation Festival: Performances and workshops from puppet companies around the world. The events take place in Edinburgh and central Scotland.
24 March - 15 April - Ceilidh Culture: The third year for this festival, with over 100 events planned across the city throughout April, ranging from concerts, recitals and workshops to lots and lots of dances.

It is held on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle and the last part of the Tattoo is the Lone Piper, playing on the top of one of the ramparts of the Castle. Real spine-tingling moment!
