This weekend, Sunday, October 1, 2006, the 43rd annual Cabrillo Festival will take placeat Cabrillo National Monument in San Diego, California. I recently wrote an article about the Monument and you can read that article at /viewArticle.jsp?articleId=281474976800723 for information about the Cabrillo National Monument, including things to do there. In addition to the regular activities, the festival will include cultural demonstrations by Native American, Spanish, Mexican, and Portuguese groups. The demonstrations showcase dance, food and handicrafts. A reinactment of Cabrillo's landing will take place at Ballast Point.
This is a great family experience, but arrive early as parking goes pretty quickly at these events.
