We would like to congratulate the lucky winners of The Black Dahlia Movie Drawing Contest! In conjunction with The Black Dahlia, we asked Gather members to tell us their all-time favorite mystery or thriller movie. We had over 160 responses, ranging from Primal Fear to Seven to the crowd favorite, Silence of the Lambs. We randomly drew 10 names and the winners will receive Black Dahlia movie swag, courtesy of Gather.com and Universal Pictures.
Without further ado, the winners are...
Diane White
"...True Confessions was a great movie. Great book as well, written by Joan Didion and John Gregory Dunne who recently died."
Heidi S.
"Oh come on...one movie is too difficult. I'd say anything by Hitchcock is amazing. He left the thrilling to your mind instead of spelling it out for you. I also love "Silence of the Lambs", and now I am making a list of these to add to my movie rental list."
Rodger K.
"I have many favorite mystery movies ... "Casablanca", the original "Manchurian Candidate", "The Maltese Falcon", "LA Confidential"...;But my absolute favorite, on many complex levels, would have to be Dennis Potter's "The Singing Detective", hands down."
Valerie S.
"My favorite thriller is Rope from Alfred Hitchcock."
Hope N.
"Fargo and Memento."
Samantha B.
"High Tension ... the most aptly named movie I've ever watched, and what a thriller!"
Kathleen G.
"I wish someone would make a movie of "The Secret History." I love that book. Maybe the movie wouldn't be as good. If I had to choose something that was already a movie, I would say...THE SIXTH SENSE."
Marlene P.
"How about "In Cold Blood", the original "Manchurian Candidate", and I can't leave out "Silence of the Lambs.""
Jihaan Karjeker
"Wow there are some movies here I haven't seen, I guess I'll have to add them to my Netflix list. I would say my favorites would have to be Primal Fear and Seven. And the X-Files: Fight the Future if that counts."
Sheila Peela
"I would have to say Se7en with Brad Pitt, Freeman, Paltrow, and Spacey. It was a great way to see the demise of people in accordance with the 7 Deadly Sins. That movie still gives me the willies."
Once again, thanks to everyone who participated and congrats to our winners!
