Do you ever have a "head song" that you just can't get out of your mind?
For two days now Paul Simon's "My Little Town" has been running on a continous loop through my brain.
"...flyin' my bike past the gates of the factory. My Mom doing the laundry, hanging our shirts in the dirty breeze. And after it rains, there's a rainbow, and all of the colors are black. It's not that the colors aren't there. It's just imagine they lack. Everything's the same back, in my little town."
I'm humming it in line in the grocery store. It runs through my head as I load the dishwasher. I find myself singing it aloud as I swing on my deck. I swear, I got up in the night to pee and it floated through my mind as I stumbled back to bed.
Sometimes it's worse. A few days ago my head song was "Karma Chameleon" by Boy George. The good thing about that song is that the dogs like to dance to it with me while I sing it. The bad thing is that it's more repetitious than "My Little Town."
I feel an intense iPod session coming on for tomorrow. I've got to reprogram my brain and get Paul Simon out of there and give him a rest. But who knows what's next. I'm hoping for something by the Moody Blues, but it could just as well be Patsy Cline.

You say yes, I say no
You say stop and I say go, go, go
Oh, no
You say goodbye and I say hello
Hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
Hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
I say high, you say low
You say why, and I say I don't know
Oh, no
You say goodbye and I say hello
Hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
Hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
Why, why, why, why, why, why
Do you say good bye
Goodbye, bye, bye, bye, bye
Oh, no
You say goodbye and I say hello
Hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
Hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye
I say hello
hello, hello
I don't know why you say goodbye I say hello
Hello
Hela, heba helloa
Hela, heba helloa
Also.. Keaton Simons Exes & Whys.. it does the same thing too
This morning has been blissfully silent, so I hope that you didn't jinx me!
I was going to say how I have been singing "I'm Your Puppet" for 3 days now in my head. But now my head has changed to "I say hello, you say goodbye" yadayadayada
It seemed so hard to not hum it out loud.
