Have you ever heard of mommy mush brain? Mommy mush brain is something my family refers to as not being able to think exactly the same way you did before you became pregnant or had a baby. Not being able to think and becomming more absent minded is something I have noticed more and more during my pregnancy and as a new mom.Could it be from lack of sleep and all the changes that have occured not only to my body but inside my thought process as well? One would like to believe that but I was always told it never gets better apparently I was told wrong.....
Now theres a study that proves becomming pregnant and giving birth actually makes you smarter!Yes, you read right it makes you smarter. Why is this?We already know that being absent minded and forgetful during pregnancy is a common factor. There are many things that can contribute to this such as exhaustion, to many thoughts on your mind, and other pregnancy discomforts. The hormones released during pregnancy and throughout breast feeding helps contribute to making you smarter. That hormone is called oxytocin and it is released in high amounts during pregnancy.
The study was conducted on pregnant rats and mice by the University of Richmond and Randolph-Macon College in Virginia. For more information here is the link to the article:

I must admit I am one of the 50 % of woman who experienced forgetfulness during my pregnancy.I'm really waiting for when I will start seeing my brain function the way it used to if not better then it used to be.Maybe when the lack of sleep passes I will see a difference. This really takes away from mommy mush brain and leaves me with a new perspective on the reality of what really occurs. So, even though we may not realize it us mom's may actually be a alittle bit smarter than before. (It applies to men too..read the bottom of the article for more)
