Guys, Why Don't You Want to Share the Good...

Recently I learned that one of the guys in the office just got a new daughter. I was not aware of his wife's pregnancy at all. I chatted with other women in the office, and they did not know the wonderful news either. Some people told me that guys normally don't talk about things like this.

I told my husband and I was curious what he thought from a guy's perspective. To my surprise, he told me he didn't intend to spread out the news at his work place either. But someone saw the ultra sound picture I sent him over his shoulder, and spread the news for him. That's how the news got out.

I don't understand guys' mentality! Why don't you guys want to spread the wonderful news? I pretty much told everyone when the doctor confirmed my pregnancy, because I was so excited. Well, I am not complaining because it isn't my business. But I am just curious, why do you think the husbands aren't sharing?

my hubby kept quiet about all 4 of our kids at work.He would casually let them know about a week or two before giving birth, "hey, I need someone to be on standby for me, when she gives birth Im leaving!" talk about a jaw drop! luckily, I had them while he was on his days off-with such late notice no one was able to cover for him. I agree with Marilyn~us women are way smarter!!!!

I don't think it is true of all men. My husband told everyone at his work and kept them informed of the pregnancy's progress -- his coworkers even threw us and another coworker who was pregnant at the same time a double shower. I think a lot of it just depends on the individual male and how open they are about things in general at their work. Some keep work and family totally separate and are more private about family stuff at work and others talk about their family a lot on the job. It also depends on the office environment too -- some places/coworkers are more into talking about families and are more accepting of it and others aren't as interested.

I really can't imagine why any man would want to keep it quiet . I seem to recall men who would just bursting at the seams with the good news. I can't quite remember how my husband went about telling his classmates ( we were in Seminary at the time) Knowing him and the shock that I was carrying twins ( we were Canadians going to school in the U.S.) I imagine he asked any one who would listen to pray for us !!

While my husband is not the birth father of my children, he was giddy with excitement over the birth of our first granddaughter a few weeks ago. He was the one that called all our friends and family while I was in the delivery room. He was the one that downloaded the digital pictures and printed out a bunch of wallet size and proudly passed his copy around at work to a bunch of contractors.

So, I don't think its all men...

My hubby is the total opposite.He's a proud father already.We made a webpage up for our friends and family to keep updated on happening's with our pregnancy and life.He talks to his customers, boss and secretary all the time about our appointments and happenings through this.I have had people I don't even know personally ask me how I'm doing and checking up on us.My father when my stepmom was pregnant also shared the news with his co-workers and friends.I guess it all depends on the guy.Maybe some men aren't sure how to approach the topic or aren't very open or aware of what's really going on.Who knows.

Men. My husband did the same thing. Maybe they think they'll lose their manliness if they become fathers. Who knows? But then again, my husband doesn't talk much about anything to other people. He likes being secretive.
