Several years ago I stumbled onto this website - Elder Wisdom Circle
http://www.elderwisdomcircle.org/
This site benefits anyone seeking advice for free and those who are senior citizens looking to help out others with their vast knowledge and lifetime experience.
There is an application for those elders who want to apply to be one of the elder circle members. They recommend looking over the letters and responses to get a feel for the topics, which cover a wide range of issues from dealing with dealth of a spouse, child, dating, stress, employment issues, homosexuals, loneliness, adoption, in -laws, porn, illnesses, romances and much more.
This opportunity in turn gives the elders interesting conversation, sparks their memories, engages them in discussions, gives them an outlet and voice to be part of a community and keeps their spirits up and their creativity flowing.
I have read many times that it is best for us as we age to learn a new language, take a course and do crossword puzzles to stimulate the brain. This is the perfect online activity for a relative that might be bored or lonely and has an opinion on many topics.
I referred an online friend who was at the time in her late 70s and had lost her husband to this site. She has enjoyed her time there reading over the letters and responding to them.
You also get feedback from those who have sent in their requests for advice, which would lift the spirits of the elders who offered said advice and encourage them to offer more based on their lifetime experience.
Anyone can post a question based on whatever they are dealing with at the moment. This will get posted to their site, but are anonymous and you can request a certain cyber-grandparent AKA Elder by their pen name in your request. The site states it takes a few days for a resonse.
They do not give legal, medical, tax or investment advice. This is a site family members should refer their elder members to in hopes they will join and give advice. Anyone can post a request for advice at any time to the site:

Help out a lonely senior citizen by posting a question they can respond to.
