It's house party season! With the election less than three months away, campaigns and causes are rushing to put their house party programs together. In the Party2Win community, summer house parties are in full swing:
On July 30, the Spitzer 2006 campaign organized parties across New York state. More than 3,000 supporters gathered at 100 homes to mark 100 days until the general election. Eliot Spitzer attended a house party in Hillsdale. His running mate, David Paterson, met with supporters at a CliftonPark house party. Both called into the state-wide parties via conference call, answering questions from supporters. For more details click here.
Of course, the election is only one of the reasons groups hold house parties. In early June, the Humane Society of the United States marked the onset of hurricane season with Leave No Pet Behind house parties. More than 380 parties participated! Senator Edward Kennedy and actor, Eric Roberts were featured speakers on the conference call. Learrn more at: Party Animals
On July 27, Union of Concerned Scientists activists across the state of California simultaneously hosted the world premiere of a new mini-documentary film about global warming in California. "On the Frontlines of Global Warming" provided attendees of over 60
screenings the chance to become part of an historic movement for the nation's first ever economy-wide cap on global warming emissions. After watching the film, actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. joined the parties in an exclusive statewide conference call hosted by UCS California Director Jason Mark.
