After reading a story another gather friend wrote, I sent her an email. She told me I needed to share my story with others.
Although I don't have an autistic child, I do have a nephew who is autistic and sometimes I substitute in the CDC at school. I know that each child is different, and each one a blessing. My nephew loves the computer and he has learned so much thanks to the wonderful teachers he has had. The most rewarding was 3 years ago when he sang a song at the Christmas Play. The whole family was there and anyone who knew his story was so touched with emotion. He got a standing ovation for his solo, the music teacher worked with him alone for 2 weeks, he loves to sing. Talking, well he doesn't do that much or interaction with others, but when he does single you out for a few minutes he is the sweetest thing.
He will be 14 in January and 2 years ago we almost lost his mother to a cancerous brain tumor. Luckily God was looking out and she is now cancer free.
For 8 years his parents prayed for him to speak, to communicate is some way, we all prayed. God was listening, and he does reach out to us now in his own way. You can catch him singing to himself, and what a blessing that is. He has made a best friend at school, so to speak. The young man who sits beside him at the next computer is nicknamed Snowball. Everyday when my sister inlaw goes to pick him up from school he tells Snowball bye. He'll get up from his chair and say, "Bye Snowball," and then sings his way out of the classroom. Right now he's all about Jingle Bells, must be the season.
Blessings to all, and thanks Audrey. I hope someone finds some hope thru my sharing.

O nline A sperger S yndrome
I nformation & S upport
What asperger is, a mild form of autism that effects many people. Some of the great scientist have had it. It can make someone very smart or normal, some are below average, all of them suffer from social problems.
I struggled with this my highschool year. I hope that everyone will learn to feel for people with disabilities. Truly the world doesn't care much about us. I am glad there are people who do. The system is so fickle, it only cares if you help better it. If you don't you are an outcast, this system needs to change don't you agree?
NWJ Keep UP the good work and God bless (+=-)
Steven, I know God is with you on your journey and I hope you can help others along the way. Maybe that was his plan for you all along, to help others cope and learn. I admire your courage and faith, yours too Audrey.
Blessings to you both! Merry Christmas!
Happy Holidays to your family
I'm not sure which software programs they use with Tyler, but he can turn on the computer, sign on, and load the programs he uses. He can also operate a VCR and DVD player better than we can. I can't tell you how many VCR's he wore out playing his movies. I'll check with my sister inlaw and see if she knows. I've been in the classroom and have watched him get on the computer, but I didn't really have time to see what programs he was using.
I'll keep your son in my prayers too! Blessings!
Anyway, it should be Kids not Kinds. I'm having a moment, as my mother inlaw says.
