Rainbow competetion writing
Gray particles move
The dusts of thought settle on top
of the bleak table strewed with scraps.
Look at the window, the gray sky
can be seen like an old printing
made of even gray particles.
Now he will rise to make a cup of
Earl-gray tea he likes. Afternoon
glides. Winter is a slumber with
rainbow flowers blooming like dreams.
He will soon once more sink in briefs
of arid, self important and
dusky annals of court proceedings.
Check the time now in your precious
watch, isn't it time they should come!
Or they are not coming this year,
like the previous one and the
one preceding that... how many
years since they have a visit.
Dusts and gray, color the sky old.
The man of law is burying himself

My halting response to your pearled strand:
Old ones holding onto their remaining core of "self".
Self = that which is consistent to our/their life, AS it's been lived dripping forth the distillation process. Brandy like.
Brilliant minds, clouding beneath the collective debris. Ancient yet still "works in progress".
A life's "errors/efforts" needed as support to prop up, particularly as the decades slide into being forgotten.
On this side of there: vigilant attention paid to note takeing for our own dusty days.
