I'm relatively new to Gather. Does anyone have any tips on how to rack up the Gather points? I read about someone who had thousands and I have no idea how anyone could get that many.
I don't know how they do it! I'd love to know as well! Seems I comment and post an awful lot, and I don't even have a hundred points. I may NEVER cash in. ;-)
I don't earn many points myself because I don't have much time. But if you have free time on your hands, just keep "doing things" on Gather. I mean it. Pretty much anything you do earn you points (except the private messages). So view, rate, and comment on as many posts, photos or videos as you can, and add as many members to your Friends list as you can, and join and post to as many groups as you can. Good luck.
I didn't spend time reading all of the comments posted on here, so I hope these aren't repetitive. The more friends you have, the more content you will have available in your "feed" for viewing (meaning you won't have to go find content through other searches, etc).
Here's what someone I knew did:
-Start a chat. Just title it "Chat" or something and everyone can talk in the comments. Leave the window open. -While you wait for people to come chat with you, or while you chat, go back and forth between the two windows- in another window, comment on as much content as possible.
Rinse, lather, repeat. The more you comment, the more you get comments, the more points you get. You can also get points sometimes from contests (though it is unreliable). Add Stephanie Plum, Gather Partner Team as a friend and view her content! She's always posting about contests that can earn you gather points or even fun freebies. My mom is also on gather and got a whole stack of books as a prize once. For doing some reviews, I've gotten a CD and two books from here! It's not always just about points, but about other things.
The main advice I have for you is to have fun! Just enjoy it and the points will add up. :)
