Fun With Trash...

Around here our trash always finds some other reason to hang around a bit longer...

We use all those non matching plastic container lids to make our own games... The all time favorite is indoor carpet hockey!!! Think air hockey, but you have to be on all fours to play... Zinging plastic lids back and forth across the room is actually REALLY fun!!! Yeah for the getting to be a kid with the kids factor!!!

Rubbermaid storage totes have come in handy for using as a bathtub in a pinch, a toddler pool on a whim, or cars when the kids want their own "drive in" in the living room (this ultimately keeps their hands off each other)...

Then of course, we must look at everything VERY carefully before throwing it out or donating it... Something just may be perfect for Polly Pocket, Barbie, or whatever playset they want to expand on...

There are a few things for now...

My kids love to craft with anything they can get their hands on. They just turned a doughnut box into a picture frame!

oooo, my son is terrific at playing with trash. Obviously his favorite is packing material. But old egg cartons, paper bags, plastic food tubs, they all get used as toys - stuff this in that, bang this with that, you name it.

Great article! We try to declutter every chance we get, but there are so many uses for the things usually just don't even think about reusing, that it's hard not to develop huge piles of 'useful' stuff. *blush*
